It is also home to the lowest point of elevation in North America at Badwater Basin, which is 282 feet below sea level. One of the more interesting topographical aspects of Death Valley is that within the same region of the lowest elevation you also have the highest point in the United States at Mount Whitney only 84.6 miles away. It is these types of extremes that make Death Valley one of the most interesting places in the world to visit. Details
