The platform as such is so spectacular, even when seen from afar. To be on it and to be able to enjoy the views made us spend quite some time there. We were there after 11 a.m., but I think I would recommend to go there at sunset, if possible - for the light.

"Stunning views, beware the website booking!"

Word of warning, ensure the website refreshes to inform you that the purchase of your tickets has completed or check your emails first if it doesn't. It didn't for me and a forced refresh after nothing happening took the page back several pages which resulted in me purchasing the tickets twice so it became a very expensive experience and this is the reason I've given it a 3. As with all the observation deck experiences in NYC, the views are stunning and the glass part of the deck is fantastic if you aren't affraid of heights. We visited in the morning but would imagine a visit at night to be equally stunning.

"Edge exceeded expectations"

Far exceeded expectations. Waiting time was short and staff members were nice. Was pleased to discover there was plenty of indoor observation space in all directions besides the outdoor ledge on a cold day.

"HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - Don't waste your TIME or money"

My daughter bought tickets for 4:30pm and based on the website we were to be done at 5:30 so we made dinner reservations for 6:00pm. What a mistake. From the beginning to the end this was the most disorganized event I have ever been to and the staff were rude and useless. We arrived at 4pm and asked the staff where we should go. Their instruction was to get in line (the line was at least 100 deep and the area was complete insanity) if your time wasn't 4:10pm or earlier...why wait in line? We soon found out that was not correct instructions. We were permitted to enter at 4:40pm and felt pretty good. The staff wouldn't let us in because i had a coffee. We didn't see any signs other than "no firearms" but whatever, I asked if I could throw it out before we entered the elevator. He said there are no trash cans anywhere (another lie). We wait in line about 10 minutes to go through metal detectors thinking we will then get on elevator since the staff there said it will be just a few more minutes...WRONG! Another Lie..we then stood in line for another 40 minutes. It was now 5:30pm when we finally made it to the elevator..and oh yeah, there were trash cans at the elevator to dispose of trash..could have used the coffee for the 50 minute wait in line! We go up...sure, the view is awesome but we missed the sunset which is what my daughter wanted to see and why she booked 4:30pm. By then we were exhausted and starving so we left after about 15 minutes..or so we thought...another line, this time 30 minutes to get down. Again it was totally disorganized, the staff did not communicate or control the line, people were cutting in line, the staff was belligerent when anyone pointed out that people were cutting the line (some knowingly cut and others had no idea where to go since the staff didn't communicate). We finally made it down and of course, missed our reservation. We have been to 30 Rock and Empire State in past and it was always well organized...The Edge...never again
