This hotel deserves No star. The front desk guy Alex is unfriendly. He should not be working in hospitality industry. I went down in the morning to ask if it is ok to check out at 2 pm as I was only granted 1 pm check out when I checked in the day before. The check in lady told me to do so. But Alex told me he only can give me 12:30pm, and I have to pay $$ for 2 pm check out. When I walked by, I saw him looking askance at me! The housekeeper lady on the 10th floor knocked the door first time when I told her I have a late check out at 1 pm. She came back at 12pm and knocked door. I informed her I would check out at 1 pm . She shows impatient expression on her face right in front of me. I just packed and left the hotel as soon as possible! Will not come back to this hotel!

Simple, basic. Generally clean. Good water pressure, hot. Bed somewhat comfy. Good TV, some clothes hanging space, a safe, a crappy keurig. Tiny room and bathroom. MAJOR PROBLEM: ELEVATORS. 1 of 2 (small) elevators was out of order for 3 of the 7 days of my stay on the 20th floor. Even when there were 2 working elevators, there were long wait times as well as rides often packed with other people. When 1 elevator was working, EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT. Check out day, I had to walk down 20 flights with suitcase.

Booked this hotel through expedia as fully refundable. Cancelled 2 months before going but Holiday Inn staff member fraudently charged my credit card for 1 night. They should have charged as a pending charge when I booked but they billed the full amount and refused to refund. The fishy thing is someone charged my card almost 1.5 weeks after I had booked. Billing staff is either not trained or involved in criminal activity and Holiday Inn doesn't seem to care. Expedia is reputable and is taking care of the charges but I would never book here based on this experience. Management is completely incompetent/corrupt.

The hotel is updated and clean. Rooms are quite small: there is no place to store luggage and no chair other than at the cramped desk area. The stand-alone air conditioning/heating unit worked well, though. Shower pressure was adequate but not excellent. Hallway and elevator noise are an issue. The front-desk staff not particularly pleasant (but not rude) and were somewhat inconsistent: I had to pester them with a simple request, although another request was taken care of quickly. I did not receive any housekeeping service after my first overnight, even though I asked at the front desk for the bathroom to be cleaned. On the second day, I again had to request service at the end of the business day. Also, directly in front of the hotel, on the hotel property, is an outdoor patio area, with seats and two benches, for hotel guests. But, unfortunately, smoking is allowed there, and there is no security to prevent non-guests from using the area; indeed, at night, we saw people sleeping on the benches. The neighborhood is not scenic, but it's filled with food options, close to key subway lines, and is not far from the midtown tourist sites.

The hotel is ideally located to explore Manhattan. However, we arrived late and it was apparently too much to ask of the front desk staff check us in. We got a room on the 6th floor while everybody else seemed to have theirs on 18th and above. The room was very small and cleanliness just about acceptable. At least the day-time staff made an effort when we checked out.
