"Don't waste your time here!!!"

My first time leaving a TripAdvisor review and I needed to point out what an absolute disaster this hotel is. $315/night and no staff to assist with luggage (I had to lug my family's baggage from the taxi to the room). The room was a "ground level" room, but was actually below grade. Dark and drab and very depressing to stay in. The front desk agent was very nonchalant about changing our room and completely locked customer service skills. This will be my first and last time here...I suggest staying elsewhere.

We booked this hotel in April through Hotel.com. We arrived on Sunday night to find the scaffolding and then to be told the hotel was fully booked and was given room 111. Unfortunately this room is 20 yards from the reception area. We had booked a room for three adults , unfortunately the room we were given was not as advertised . The room was really small with only one light , and you could hear everything outside the room it was extremely noisy . Not what you want after travelling 20 hours from the United Kingdom. I immediately made my concerns to the front desk who told me that we could come back in the morning and try and move to another room! That’s where the nightmare began. We had the worse possibly night sleep. We were exhausted so we decided to try and sleep it was 10 o’clock by then. We could hear everyone in reception , and this noise don’t dissipate till after 11pm. We were then awoken by security every hour as he did his rounds walking pass our room with his phone playing music. We were then awoken at 4am as they had a delivery for the kitchen for the breakfast , and that’s another story. When i spoke to reception I asked for the manager but was told they were not available. We were moved to another room on the 10th floor after I spoke to the duty manager Sonia . This room was much better! When I asked about a refund for the first night I was told to go back to Hotel .com. Breakfast was an eye opener ! For a hotel that has over a hundred rooms the breakfast hall is far far too small to cope with the number of guests it has ??? If you want breakfast you must get up for 6am to ensure you can have a seat before what can only described and a scramble. The location and price is this hotels saving grace. Overall our stay was good apart from the first night which was a Hugh disappointment and we feel very let down by both the hotel and Hotel.com.

AVOID Found out in shuttle (while luckily checking my emails) from JFK to the hotel, that my reservation had been cancelled. Apparently just the 1st of 2 nights? I learnt later. Wonderful considering the next day was Independence Day. I had to communicate by email in the shuttle due to the telephone number of their web site not existing when trying to ring it. I have studied earlier feed back on this hotel and others have experienced the same thing happening, so clearly not a one off mistake. Managed to stay in another HI near Times Square and the staff could not have been nicer, but no included breakfast and also meant having to take a taxi to the port. Very Poor experience and therefore say avoid this hotel as you will probably never get to sample this property, and naturally cannot give feedback on staying there. All subsequent communications to hotel have gone unanswered, which says it all, avoid.

"Good enough for a quick visit"

We had a one night stopover in NYC and this was the cheapest, least awful reviewed hotel we could find. And it was just that. Loads of scaffolding out the front made it tricky to spot but reception were friendly, even showing you how to work the tap in the bathroom (we wouldn't have figured it out). We had a room by the lift which wasn't ideal and rooms were dated but clean. Location is key as we could walk to times square and empire state building which was our aim. Breakfast was good but too few tables to sit at. Good enough for a one night stop.

Best service I have had in NYC , front desk Eduardo and Touria went the extra mile to make my stay a special one. Very clean and great location close to Times Square. I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to New York . The management was very attentive to my requests and quick to solve any issues .
