"What You'll Find at Rockefeller"

Man. The ol' grand Rockefeller Center. A place where you can't even have a normal conversation with people staring at you like you are yelling. I mean the ice skating ain't all that bad, it's a little cramped but it does the trick. I really don't get the appeal though, "Oh, we're in the heart of NYC and the back drop is so pretty," just doesn't do it for me. I was with my friend Sally and we were trying to have a conversation, oh, and the fellas there won't even serve you! No regards for a kid to enjoy themselves, I mean,"I'm the most terrific liar you ever saw in your life" (Salinger 19). Anyways, this is a kingdom for families, I mean the perfect place as going as less than four people you seem like an outsider. Only advice I'd give is to keep it at a whisper, lol.

"Bucket list checked off"

This was a bucket list item for my 20 year old. She rated it a 4 but I’m taking a star off for all of the “other” factors. The good: It’s Rockefeller Center. The tree was up and beautiful. It’s a special event. The young workers on the ice seemed helpful to people who needed help. The okay: Details online were vague. It would have been helpful to know that you can’t really be a spectator in the paid rink area. I bought two tickets so my husband and I could take good pictures of our daughter’s fun but there is almost no room for that to happen. You can watch for free above the rink or behind a wall of glass - just know that there’s very little watching room once you get into the paid area. Either be on the rink skating or watching from a tiny area. Our reservation was for 10:20 PM. We weren’t allowed to scan in until just a minute or so before that. We still needed to get skates, find a bench in the crowded room to put them on, and look for an empty locker for shoes. That all took several minutes into our hour time. The ice really needed smoothed when got there. It was very, very crowded. They sell too many tickets. During our paid time they had to clear the ice for a proposal and to run the Zamboni. So you pay for an hour but we got probably 35 minutes by the time you subtract everything else. Would I pay $225 for my daughter to check it off her bucket list? Yes. Would I pay $225 for her to do it again? Probably not. There are little skate helpers you can rent for $25. They can only be used for children under 4’. For the little kids who couldn’t skate well, the helpers seemed to work great. Other note - most people could barely skate so don’t be afraid to do it if you want to but are t good. Of the hundreds of people there, we only saw a few truly confident skaters.

"Great Customer Service"

Before and after my trip to Rockerfeller Center I had to call to get some assistance and get some questions answered. I can't say enough about the outstanding customer service that I received every time I called but especially from Yasmin Richardson. In today's world great customer service is not always available. I was impressed and grateful for Yasmin's professionalism and genuine concern with my problem. She also followed up with an email which I thought showed her true interest in resolving my issue and concern that it might not be totally resolved. Thank you Jasmin for your amazing customer service!! Elaine Barden
