Description

Welcome to Hadestown, where a song can change your fate. This acclaimed new musical by celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre, & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today… and always.

Hadestown intertwines two mythic tales—that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone—as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell’s beguiling melodies and Chavkin’s poetic imagination pit industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Performed by a vibrant ensemble of actors, dancers, and singers, Hadestown is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.

This show is approximately 2 hours and 25 minutes, including intermission. Recommended for ages 8 and up. Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre.

"Sydney Premiere took us to Heaven"

It was the most brilliant show! The Sydney cast smashed it out of the park in front of an audience who knew every song and lapped it up. Being part of the audience whooping, cheering and interacting throughout made it the best musical theatre experience of my life. There was a ten minute standing ovation. Couldn’t recommend highly enough, especially to musical people with good taste.

Hate to say I have never disliked a musical more EVER!!! Both myself and my mum bought last min tickets to see hadestown , I’ve never been more compelled to write a review for a show, as I disliked it that much . The songs all sounds the same boring drowning tunes. the same la la la repeated like the most annoying thing you’ve ever heard. We almost left at intermission but decided to try the second half and can only say I wish we had walked out , if your looking for a weird adaptation of a Greek tragedy with a dull score then go for it

Was able to get standing room tickets for $39. Went to theater at 9:10 am. By 10:00 am door opened and I was third in line. Also got an obstructed leg room seat for $99.
