Tempo By Hilton New York Times Square

Be careful when you check out, my family got charged USD 200 of Valet Parking... They did not even have a car with them, Tempo did not want to acknowledge this as it was a mistake from them and did not refund the money. Very disappointment experience.

Arrived around 8pm New Year’s Day. The doorman was very helpful, took us up to reception in the lift and helped with suitcases. Check in was simple and quick. Staff explained how to use the lift which is great technology and resulted in no waiting/queuing for lifts during our stay. Room was lovely, modern and clean. Beds were very comfy. My only criticisms would be an extra mirror needed on the desk in the room, more clothing storage and larger towels. Hairdryer provided was good and fridge was a good size. Tv was a smart tv so was able to use Netflix. We paid extra to ensure we were on a high floor. We ended up on floor 39 so there was minimal noise from Times Square only thing we heard were sirens. Location was perfect, right next to subway and perfect walking distance to 5th avenue, Rockefeller and Central Park. Check out was easy and within 2 days the deposit taken had been released back to my card as agreed. Thanks for a great stay!

We arrived at Tempo 12 noon on New Years Day, to be expected the hotel was very busy with guests checking out. We went to the reception desk to check in, we booked and paid for a corner view room. The girl on the check in desk said we were down for a standard view room,. After showing her confirmation and her speaking to management they agreed to put us in the room we had booked and paid for. However that room type wasn't available till 4pm (check in time) we was offered a lower grade room at an additional $75 (early check in fee) but declined as we wanted the room we booked and paid for. 4pm came and we were given our room key (1805) within a few minutes of walking in the room we noticed there was a very loud wind noise coming from one of the windows and it also wasn't opening. We phoned reception and they told us maintenance would be up shortly. Around 35/40 minutes after of just waiting as we didn't want to unpack incase it was not repairable,.maintenance arrived and confirmed it wasn't repairable and we would need to change rooms. The guy we spoke to on reception told us not to worry, as they had other rooms. However, to get the room type we booked and paid for it wouldn't be ready till around 8pm on the evening (4 hours after check in) at this stage I want to add at no point did anyone apologise for this inconvenience, we've arrived in NYC and eager to explore and we are unable to unpack, settle in to our room and change clothes due to them not being able to get the room ready till 8pm! Again, not a single apology anywhere. We decided Instead of waiting in the hotel lobby we would go for some food, when we arrived back at 8pm the receptionist handed our room key and said "it's ready" not a single apology again. We went up to our room expecting maybe a bottle of champagne due to our inconvenience, or maybe drinks vouchers.... NO, absolutely nothing. There was no compensation or anything offered complimentary for the inconvenience they caused, but even more frustrating, not a single sorry throughout this whole process. To top of it off, there was an issue with the door on our new room (2305) it wouldn't close tight and everytime someone near by opened or closed their door, it sounded like ours was opening and closing as well. Very annoying, but I just didn't even want to go down again after what happened before, also our room wasn't made on the 1st day. To be positive the view was great (corner view room) and the bed was very comfy. However to experience the above and not get as much as an apology for me is totally unacceptable.

My 19 year old daughter and her friend were refused entry to the hotel on arrival from the UK due to their rule that you must be over 21 to stay in the hotel. They were more than happy though to accept the booking in the first place and also took $600 deposit on arrival before cancelling the booking! The manager was also more than happy to simply tell them to go without them having a chance to secure a room in an alternative hotel. When we as parents spoke to the manager he tried to tell us that it was illegal in the US for under 21s to stay in hotels alone, which obviously was not the case. The holiday was booked through Loveholidays and going forwards we will never book through those nor any Hilton brand again. A total disgrace and the hotel manager on duty should be ashamed of himself! Managed to book an alternative at Moxy Hotels on Times Square which was amazing and a much better location! Avoid Tempo at all costs! Zero consideration of customer welfare!

Paid a pretty premium for a ball drop view over NYE, definately expensive but completely worth it, the room has one of the most amazing views overlooking Times Square. The hotel has a fantastic and efficient elevator system that only allows guests to get to your own floor, unlike other hotels in peak season you won't be stuck in long queues. The hotel itself is new the rooms are very nicely designed and modern. There is a decent sized fridge, espresso machine. Biggest issue is the lack of amenities (eg, no kettle, bathroom slippers, shower caps etc) and no wardrobe area. The bathroom though is impressive, amazing lighting, mirror and spacious well thought out shower area. The beds and linen are amazing and one of the most comfortable I've ever stayed in. Huge collection of TV channels on a large Samsung screen, electric curtains and sheers. If you want to splurge and experience Times Square over NYE it doesn't get better than this!
