"Racial Discrimination by Security Staff Ruined Our Visit"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5
Reviewed October 14, 2024
I never thought I'd have to write a review like this, but after my experience at Six Flags New England on October 14, 2024, I feel compelled to share what happened. My two friends and I, all of Asian descent, arrived at the park around 4:30 PM, excited for a fun day ahead. However, our trip quickly turned sour when we encountered security staff member Joe Villar. Without any explanation or information, he assumed we were under 18 (we are all over 21) and demanded that we show our IDs. His tone was rude, and his attitude was condescending, as if he had already decided that we didn’t belong there. It was clear that he had made assumptions based on our appearance. When we asked why we needed to show our IDs, Joe threatened us and even tried to physically push us out of the park entrance. It was a shockingly aggressive response, and we felt deeply disrespected and unsafe. We left to retrieve our physical IDs from the car, thinking that might resolve the issue, but when we returned, Joe once again blocked us, stating that we were "already denied entry." There was no reasoning, no explanation—just outright refusal. What made this experience even worse was the blatant racial discrimination. Joe Villar’s attitude was a clear display of racial superiority, making us feel unwelcome simply because we were Asian. His arrogance and condescending behavior throughout made it painfully obvious that this was more than just a policy enforcement; it felt personal, as if he saw us as less deserving of respect and entry compared to others. This wasn’t just a bad day at a theme park—this was discrimination, plain and simple. To anyone considering going to Six Flags New England, I’d strongly advise reconsidering. A fun trip shouldn’t be ruined by someone who uses their position of authority to act superior and discriminate against others. The fact that this park allows someone like Joe Villar to represent them is concerning. If you value respect and fairness, I'd recommend looking elsewhere for your next amusement park adventure. Our three-hour drive was completely wasted, and I’m left with a terrible memory instead of the fun day we were expecting. Six Flags needs to take this seriously and investigate, or risk losing more customers who won’t tolerate this kind of treatment. Until then, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.

"Horrible management, lazy staff, but fun rides."
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5
Reviewed September 15, 2024
First time going there and I can confidently say I’m most likely not going back. And it’s not because of the rides but because of the management. During our visit on September 14th, 2024 My friend was on the Harley Quinn ride and sadly her phone slipped out of her pocket. We knew EXACTLY where the phone was since we heard where it dropped and so did 3 staff members when we asked them. We went to multiple people and places (like the lost and found as well as guest relations) to ask simply if they could help us retrieve the phone since we all knew where it was and the only answer was “report it at lost and found it’s a restricted area.” At lost and found we explained to the woman that we knew exactly where the phone was and we wouldn’t be able to return since we don’t live in Massachusetts and we’re going to leave the night this happened. We simply got “Well you’ll have to pay a shipping fee if we find it.” After explaining that her parents wouldn’t pay the fee and neither could we, she just shrugged us off. Now I would be more understanding if the phone fell for example under the Joker ride or any ride but the phone simply fell onto the metal awning that was over the EXIT AND ENTRANCE IF THE JOKER RIDE. It was right on the edge of it. But yes, the awning that millions of guests go under daily is a “restricted area” I suppose. An HOUR of running around and getting sent to different places could’ve been reduced to 3-5 minutes max if one of the possibly hundreds of workers who were aimlessly walking around just reached a broom over the awning and slightly pushed the phone off. This was an hour before closing there were practically no guests and only staff. I highly doubt they couldn’t have done that quickly. I believe they just looked at the time and thought “Oh parks are about to close and I want to clock out and go home” so they refused to help us with a problem that had one of the easiest and least time-consuming solutions. I am simply appalled by the management in this place. For anyone planning to come, if you lose an item and know the location of said item please don’t expect it to be retrieved for you.

"It's a scam, do NOT go."

THIS PLACE IS A SCAM, DO NOT GO!!! I bought tickets at six flags for 8/26/24 (I checked today, they are STILL selling tickets for this date). The park IS NOT OPEN on this day. They are selling tickets for hundreds of dollars, charging people, letting them travel hundreds of miles... AND CLOSING THE PARK on those days. This should be illegal. It's a scam. They refuse to reimburse me at all, saying that the terms and conditions mean they can sell tickets to a closed park. DO NOT GO.

"Crazy employee "

If it wasn't for an extremely rude employee at the thunder bolt coaster my experience would have been good. This lady stood and yelled at people for not knowing how to wrap around and que for the line. Held up the coaster for several minutes to publicly humiliate people who were trying to have a good day. The look of disbelief on people's faces said it all. Idk how she works here with all this bent up aggression. I wish I knew her name but she had a very unique fast walking style. Dark hair. If I wasn't with my kids I would've met hostility with equal hostility.

"A cheaper alternative to Disney"

Ok, we’re hear on holiday from the UK, staying in Boston which is beautiful may I add. It was a 2 hour drive to six flags in Nee England. After reading some reviews about the food on the six flags site, we decided to have a big breakfast at McDonald’s nearby. The park is of a good size and has a number of great rides. We also booked the waterpark as well for an extra $10 each so we had to squeeze everything in as the waterpark closes at 6 pm. Premium parking and speedy parking is a waste of money don’t book it. Just go to the car park and walk for 5 to 10 minutes to the entrance. There are also little trolley buses that will whisk you to the front entrance for free.. I noticed for the EV drivers. There are quite a number of charging stations in the car park to hook up. I guess if you get there early you’ll get a slot. Okay, I would’ve boring if you are of a certain size, you will not be able to ride on most of the rides mainly because you won’t fit in the seat the belt won’t fit and the pulldown bar won’t click into place. Some of the rides you have to be fairly slim to fit into the seat. And some rides all it needed was a small extension belt.. The park is very strict on height so if your kids are below the heights, they cannot ride on most of the rides but that’s for safety reasons. So although most of the rides are themed on cartoon heroes and comic book heroes that appeal to kids, the kids can’t ride so check this before you book otherwise you’ll be wasting your money. By the time we arrived, we had already had our breakfast at McDonald’s and could survive most of the day just on a few bottles of Coke and sprite and a few ice creams so that didn’t break the bank and we didn’t spend money on very expensive food. The major rides are great but expect a 40 minute to an hour wait when it’s busy the best way to do these rides is leave it until later in the day between 6 and 8 pm. You’ll get to go on most rides in fact some of the rides you could do twice if you like it so much. The waterpark is good and it’s of a fair size lots of slides pools lazy river to keep all the kids occupied but bear in mind some of the rides may be restrictive on height but check first with smaller children the adult will need to be with them there are good number of lifeguards around the waterpark. You cannot take any food or drink into the park, so don’t bring a picnic because it will be refused. The park in Gen looks tired and there’s in need of an update and the signage could be better with ground lines leading you to different areas. I reckon the five of us in the family got our money is worth from the park so I decided to give it four stars and they are based on our experience but it will never be a Disney park or a universal.. I don’t know why the park opens at 11. It’s such a crazy time to open the park. It should really be 9 am to enable people to get the most out of the day. The waterpark closes at six but the main park you can ride 8 pm. That said we would probably have paid three times as much to go to Disney. Disney is a five star theme park as well as universal. I think six Flag’s theme park New England could be improved and the rides should try and accommodate taller larger people. There were also a number of hides that stopped working or needed maintenance during the day which was really frustrating for many. I would like to see the men’s restrooms cleaned for frequently and kept clean. .
