"Kayla is the best!"

Amazing hotel. Rooms are fully renovated, but the lobby and restaurant are mid-renovation, so they are blocked off. I have stayed here a few times and opted for a longer stay for my boyfriend and my birthday celebrations. A front desk concierge put us in the worst room. The TV was not working, and the room next to us was being renovated. Maintenance was unable to fix the TV, and the noise was unbearable. Sadly, we did have to wait a night, as a different front desk concierge told us the hotel was fully booked — not sure if this was true. Luckily, this was not my first time at this hotel, and I was not used to that experience. We expressed our grievances to Kayla, who rectified the situation by placing us in a different room. If it hadn't been for Kayla, our birthday trip would've been ruined, but she saved the day.

"I would prefer this to sleeping little spoon with Bigfoot in Central Park, but just barely."

I would prefer this to sleeping little spoon with Bigfoot in Central Park, but just barely. The hotel was the worst part of my stay in NYC with my family. Other than the hotel, we had a great time and the hotel has a fantastic location. When we booked the hotel over a month before our intended stay, the marketing messages and hotel guest services all proclaimed that the hotel was newly renovated and that the rooms were all quiet. The rooms we stayed in, all 3, were newly renovated. Other parts of the hotel were undergoing renovation when we were staying there for a week in late March to early April. We had booked a high floor double queen room, hoping to avoid the street noise of NYC. The first room they placed us in was on the 18th floor. It was nice and looked as advertised, but wasn't really on a high floor (there are 55 floors to the hotel). We could hear a lot of street noise. We complained and they offered to move us in a couple of nights to a higher room, and they didn't have anything else available at that moment. When I went looking for an ice machine, there wasn't one on my floor, or two above me, and then I went exploring downward and found that from floor 16 down they were still in various stages of renovation from carpeting or furnishings or tile and trim work. I ended up back on the 4th floor front desk to get ice. There is also no independent air conditioning and to get the room to stay below 75, we had to leave the window open the 2 inch crack that it would allow, which helped cool the room but let in more street noise. When they moved us on Sunday, we did get moved to the 52nd floor, but that only lasted one night as we were woken by more renovation work. This time it sounded like it was in a floor directly above us and was either a miter saw or a tile saw for flooring. The heat situation in this room was actually worse than the one on 18 and we still had to keep the window open. Monday they moved us to the 36th floor, where we just stopped complaining and dealt with any further issues for the last 4 nights of our stay. The room was at least quieter and didn't have us dealing with renovation sounds starting in the morning, but it did still have the heating issue. Again, we couldn't get the room to ever go below 73-75 without keeping the window open, which allowed more street noise. I know it sounds like petty complaints, but we did ask before we booked the rooms if they were climate controlled and quiet. We complained about the heat to the front desk and they sent up a maintenance person. That person explained that the building's boiler doesn't switch off really til late April so just keep everything turned off. Also, the fact that the folks we talked to before booking said that the hotel was fully renovated and not disclose that it was currently still undergoing renovations seem dodgy too. If we had known that, we likely would have sought other accommodations, because we do like to actually sleep when we're on vacation. One last note, when you try to ring the front desk from your room, you actually get a little AI agent to start with. This AI agent makes sounds that seem like she's typing something into a computer, but you can blatantly tell it's a computer and the novelty wears off after the first question. It does ok if you need to order towels, but is woefully unhelpful when you need something an actual person needs to answer like "why is my room so hot," or "who's running a table saw at 8 am?"

I am an independent travel agent and booked this hotel for myself and my husband for a short trip to NYC. Upon arrival, check in was easy and staff helpful. Credit card details taken for the security deposit which was slightly steep at $600 but refundable upon check out. Room was superb, extremely large by New York standards and the view was impressive to say the least. Bathroom large and spotlessly clean as was the whole room. Coffee facilities and a fridge. Lifts are quick and efficient Kent and a good number. Excellent location and plenty of main subway stations. Only issue we had was a mistake was made charging my card for security deposit, this should have been $600 but $4,000 was charged. I went down to reception the night before checkout and they immediately realised their mistake and reversed the charges. They waived the resort fees as a gesture of goodwill. Although I have had to wait for the funds to be released for over a week this would be the only issue I had with this stay. Excellent hotel, staff and accommodation. I will be recommending to clients

Good hotel, well located, clean with improvements to be made, I recommend : only one chair for 2 people. The hotel is undergoing renovations, so there was no breakfast in the dining room. The staff who looks after your luggage asks for a tip !!! Usa is the country of tips every time . It's also difficult to take two elevators if your room is above the 30th floor because of the wait I recommend !

"Poor customer care"

Terrible management policy and attention to the guest. First of all, a corner room with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge had been booked a month before the 8-night stay (fortunately with a cancellable reservation). A week before the stay we realized that the same room was offered for a good 500 dollars less and we proceeded to replace the reservation (imagine if we hadn't noticed). Then, upon our arrival, after having made us pay for the room and assigned the same one without notifying us of anything, we found ourselves in a smaller room (without soap in the bathroom) and without the requested view (downgrade without any justification from the staff). Once in the room, after we realized the situation, we went back to the reception to make our complaints and only then did they tell us that they could have given us the room booked the following night and only after 3 pm, forcing us to also change our program for the following day. The room was then assigned to us only after 4pm without any apology or mention of a discount for the night paid for in another type and for the inconvenience caused. We also contacted booking assistance to be protected but to date, after 3 days from our departure, we have not received any feedback. We trust booking but we were very disappointed by the treatment
