Great Wolf Lodge Gurnee

This hotel is awful. The staff is awful. They hate kids. They just want your money. My room was guaranteed by 3pm, but I had to wait several hours with no compensation. When we checked out, we asked to leave at noon, but were told the hotel was sold out and the couldn’t accommodate the additional hour, but would make an exception for $24.00. Our room was not clean. requested extra towels , but iot took hours and several additional calls. I requested to speak with a manager, but no one ever returned my call. Asked for the general manager, and was told that she doesn’t speak with guests. When I asked them for the GM's email, I was given a number to call that went right back to the switchboard. Employees are not kid friendly. Outlets like Dunkin Donuts take forever in the morning. Everyone must order from a kiosk. The prices are crazy high. The pool area is fine, but this place is an extremely poor value. The staff ad management laugh at you as there billing your credit card.

This lodge is awful!! People at front desk do not know what they are doing!! Gave them my credit card to have my final payment upon checking out, they used my ATM card that I used for my deposit when I booked stay online! Also there was a $100, deposit a day which they didn’t tell me it was used towards charges I made at lodge!! Which I used my ATM for small charges! Also they charged my final payment 2 days prior to us checking out!! Spoke to manger about inconveniences & compensation & she said she would make it right. Called today & they only wanted to credit me $50! This is ridiculous!! Told them will never stay at Great Wolf again!!

I think that the experience of the great wolf lodge is great! I would love to go back. the water park was lots of fun and exciting! we went for 3 days and 2 nights I found nothing wrong with the room. The water park had lots of slides and a large wave pool even though it was a bit small compared to other resorts. I would recommend staying for 3 days because you can get bored. I had so much fun! I loved the food the storytime and also migiquest which was cool. the theme of the hotel is amazing. I found no stains or bugs I went right to bed after a fun-filled day. I live in Chicago so it was 30 mins away! so much fun 30 mins away. I would definitely recommend this place for any family with any aged children and even grownups in Chicago to go to!

Overall the experience was fun but I'd hesitate to go back. We sent for just 1 night in the middle of the week. If I didnt see my daughter smile so much in the water, Id give just 2 stars. The best part of this place was that if was not busy at all. Slides were great for my 4 year old and fun for adults too. The worst part was that they charge $15 per car to park - this is NOT included in your hotel price. They do not have a map of the park, you have to download the app. The fountain machines actually count down the ounces so you cant go over.

I come from a hotelier background so I always enjoy exploring other properties. Overall, operationally there are a few notable misses but in total, this is a great resort for a local getaway, The positive: -Rooms were clean and very kid-friendly, we stayed in one called the Wolf Den Suite - the bunk beds took up wasted space for us, as we needed 2 pack and plays for our 2-under-2 kids, but one pack and play fit well next to the bunk beds and it was a nice dark area for our baby to sleep - while we put the other pack and play for our toddler on the other side of the “wolf den” wall and there was plenty of room for it -Service - friendly, helpful staff and they seemed to really want to make for an overall positive experience -Fun for toddlers was limited outside of the water park, as many things more suited for slightly older kids, but one day they had balloons and coloring which our toddler enjoyed -Food at water park had solid options, was nice to have Mexican food option in addition to the standard water park food -Water park: was great for toddlers, although water was NOT heated in one of the main toddler areas which was surprising The opportunity areas: -Where the heck is all the seating?! There’s hardly anywhere to sit in the large lobby space and also even throughout the resort in general. I do understand how maybe they don’t want a bunch of people congregating in the open areas since they have a lot of activities but the resort is well maintained and would be stellar to have more benches and chairs for just sitting around the property and enjoying it -Food and drink prices atrocious and as much as food and drink at an upscale resort in Arizona we go to! $9 for a Truly and $8 for a bus light - other mixed drinks were around $15 each and super weak in terms of alcohol content and not made well (margarita has orange juice in it?? So odd, and just a waste of a breakfast drink option that nobody wants taking up space int when margarita) -Noise: walls thin and quiet hours start at 11 pm which is a little late for a kid focused resort -Only one sit down restaurant- so if you want to sit down for dinner somewhere that’s not fast food or pizza, you need to go offsite somewhere - All in all we will be back as now we know what to expect and overall enjoyed our stay!
