"They treated us so well for our wedding night!"

They made our wedding night so special! They upgraded our room to a really nice suite, and they had chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us! They also put us in a room with a view of the Perot, where we had our reception! Everyone was so kind and we were so well taken care of! They even brought us a mini fridge up to our room so we could store the food that catering sent us home with!

"Best concierges in the business!"

The Fairmont Dallas has a great location. The rooms are a little bit small. The chief concierge, Philip Powell, and the evening concierge, Thaddeus Darrel Lucas were the best part of the stay. My wife and I have stayed at plenty of hotels across the country and never had service as great as what these two gentlemen provided. If we even had a hint of dissatisfaction, these two gentlemen immediately jumped on it and made it right. Their professionalism and positive attitudes are something seldom seen anymore. If you stay at the Fairmont, Dallas, make sure you talk to these guys because they will make your stay memorable And exceptional.

There is a lot to like about the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas. It is centrally located in the Arts District of downtown Dallas. It’s a seventies era classic with warm welcomes, helpful staff and an inviting decor. The rooms are sufficiently furnished and fairly comfortable. I peeked into a fantastic wedding celebration in one of the huge event rooms. It looked amazing. A fun little store, a good restaurant, an energetic bar and Starbucks fill out the main floor. Like all downtown hotels, it is bit pricey. We didn’t regret our stay, but next time we will try a little harder to search for the discount services that third parties advertise.

"Amazing Service, Less-than-Amazing Amenities"
TripAdvisor user rating 3.0 out of 5
Reviewed March 23, 2025 NEW
GOOD SERVICE: The people at this hotel were fantastic. We received excellent, friendly, professional service from the moment we walked in to the moment we checked out. Our room was clean and well-stocked daily. GOOD LOCATION: The Fairmount Dallas was located ideally for our national choral convention - less than a 15-minute walk to the Meyerson Symphony Center and Winspear Opera House, with plenty of restaurants along the well-lit streets of the Arts District. GOOD RESTAURANT & BAR: Although pricey, the food was fresh & delicious, and the bartenders were truly top notch. The Starbucks located in the lobby was super convenient and also filled with wonderful people who were eager to help in all circumstances. LESS-THAN-DESIRABLE AMENITIES: Given the published 4-star rating, we were surprised by many things. First, the elevator situation in the North Tower was abysmal. Only two of the original 3 elevators were functional (the third had the indicator arrows ripped out with the electrical box open and uncovered on each floor), and the remaining elevators bizarrely wound up stopping together at almost every floor. This resulted in 15-20 minute waits to get up to or down from our 9th-floor room. (Those in the remaining 10 floors above us waited longer.) There was no direct stair path from the elevator lobby to our floor, and my roommate attempted to make the 9-floor climb only to get turned around and retreat to ask for help... To their credit, the staff repeatedly opened the service elevators to our convention attendees when the lines got longer than that. But, every morning started with long lines of attendees trying to make it to sessions on time, and ended with exhausted attendees traipsing past the laundry chute in the maintenance areas to get to the service elevators after 10pm. Second, the hot water ran out between 7:30 and 8:00am on weekdays and weekends. Bummer if you wanted a hot shower before that 2nd convention session! The shower heads were also devoid of hoses or any adjustable features. Third, there were no water fountains or bottle-filling stations in any guest portion of the hotel. (This was a bummer for all of us choral conductors who are quite accustomed to taking water bottles with us for full days of singing.) To their credit, the Starbucks staff let us fill our bottles at their counter daily (but, they were always closed when we returned at night), and the concierge would take our bottles "to the back" somewhere to fill them when we returned. It is just a little crazy that there was nowhere to fill our own water bottles. Fourth, the only available mini-fridge in the room was packed to the brim with alcoholic beverages, so there was nowhere to keep food (even as small as half a leftover sandwich) if we brought a meal back to the hotel with us. Apparently, some convention attendees asked for a second mini-fridge, and were provided one without charge. Wish we'd known! Fifth, there was insufficient ventilation. No openable windows, no manual exhaust fan, and no intake vents anywhere in the bedroom. Made for a steamy situation every time someone showered. Sixth, the wifi was spotty at best. I was unable to watch a Netflix or Hulu episode from my laptop without frequent buffering. Finally, the furnishings and fixtures in the rooms, bathrooms, and hallways all appeared to be many decades old... functional, but clearly worn. Chipped paint, scratched surfaces, cracked frames, and frayed edges abounded. In conclusion, we would have found this to be a great deal at half the price, but would not have considered this a "luxury" experience. It is odd to see similar reviews dating back several years, as these things do not appear to be changing. One more shout-out to the truly fantastic staff! Nothing beats a helpful, friendly smile.
