"Left feeling confused and angry"

The views were amazing, everything else felt like a scam. I’ve been to a handful of luaus in Hawaii. This was our big family vacation, so I wanted to book the “best” one. I booked it because it was highly rated. After that experience, I left thinking I was scammed out of hundreds of dollars. The whole thing was a joke. It felt like a family winging it. There was a 5 minute fire act, in which someone got hurt. Please save your money and choose a different luau. Don’t get scammed like we did. You can also get the views for free because it’s a National park there!

If you do only one thing on Oahu, go to the luau at the Nutridge Estate. It is every superlative you can imagine. Excellent entertainment, culture, history and cuisine. First class and most important, authentic. Our group was only 60 people as opposed to the massive crowds at other commercial luaus. Nutridge is more expensive and worth three times the cost.

This was a wonderful evening spent. We have two teenagers and I wasn’t sure if they would appreciate something like this but they loved it. From the gorgeous setting to the special greeting to the amazing series of performances and delicious dinner this was a fantastic time and unique memory for our whole family.

"Beautiful property, average experience"

The Nutridge Luau experience was 4 hours long, and consisted of cultural performances, interactive games, and dinner. The best part of the entire experience was exploring the beautiful grounds of the Nutridge Estate. The performances were average. We saw better performances for free in Waikiki. For example, both of the flamethrowers dropped their sticks at some point in their performances, which felt very unprofessional and risky for the audience seated in the first row. The dances lacked coordination, and it felt like the young staff members were goofing off the whole time and not genuinely interested in sharing Hawaiian culture. It felt like a caricature of a luau, and I would not call this an authentic experience.

"A Disappointing and Overpriced Luau Experience"
TripAdvisor user rating 2.0 out of 5

I booked the Experience Nutridge Luau in Honolulu because it was advertised as a smaller, more authentic alternative to the large, flashy productions that feel like a Disney show. It was also conveniently located near Waikiki Beach and promised good food. Unfortunately, this experience was a complete letdown. The claim of a “small production” is misleading—it’s not intimate or authentic, it’s simply lacking ANY production value at all. The show felt like a poorly rehearsed effort by a group of 6 college friends who acted as though they were too cool to be there. They frequently forgot their lines, dropped the fire during dances, and seemed awkward throughout, constantly begging the audience to clap or laugh at awkward, predictable and lazy jokes. The entire performance felt forced and unprofessional. The activities were another disappointment. They took zero effort from the team and were rudimentary at best—throwing a stick or tossing a ball between two sticks. It was uninspired and left us wondering why we were paying a premium for such minimal effort. These activities allowed you to get a raffle ticket later to find out that you could with a can of SPAM, a can of macadamia nuts or a cup. The drinks were overly sugary, and the food was extremely average. Vegetarians were offered a small veggie patty and a sad leafy salad with about ten leaves. Everyone left hungry and disappointed with the dinner. To top it off, the event dragged on for four hours, far longer than necessary. By the first hour, I was already ready to leave, feeling trapped in a subpar experience that didn’t come close to justifying its cost. The only positive was the view but honestly you are in Hawaii, every corner has a stunning view. You can find the same or better and for free from any view point on the road. I’m extremely confused and let down by all the positive reviews - they simply can’t be real or people have absolutely zero standards when coming to Hawaii and expect to be ripped off for being tourists. If you’re considering this luau, save your money and time. This was not worth it in any way.
