"Beautiful clean hotel"
TripAdvisor user rating 4.0 out of 5

The hotel is beautiful and very clean with a few caveats . We'll get to that further down the review. The quality of the restoration of the hotel is second to none they maintained the look of the building inside and out. The elevators, the halls on the premium floors are well done. The premier rooms are excellent clean and roomy beautiful bathrooms in a style from the '30s . The housekeepers are courteous, excellent and do a great job! The valets are courteous and speedy. The chop House restaurant is excellent ,The Starbucks restaurant on the first floor is an added bonus. The hotel also rents out ballrooms etc to vendors parties of course but they also close off parts of the floor that are not connected to the ballrooms that you cannot even sit or walk through..... what? Now for the areas they need to focus on, The pool area is dirty, there's bugs all in the fixtures, I mean old dried out aged bugs. The fixtures are suffering from age and chlorine oxidation. It doesn't reflect the quality of the rest of the hotel. I realize they are working beyond the enclosed pool area to restore The outside area, but, the inside pool should not be neglected like this. 2. The fitness equipment is old tired rickety and loud. 3. If you'd like to take the stairs instead of the elevators it's not a good idea, the stairways need a good cleaning, scraping and painting. I was shocked when I went down the stairs and saw this. 3. When you approach the reservations counter to check in or check out it takes them a minute to acknowledge your existence. They're a little smug and bothered.

"A Beautiful and Historic Hotel"

The Read House is a beautiful historic hotel. Don’t miss the free Hotel Ambassador’s tour with John Spaulding. The tour of haunted room 311 is very interesting and is recommended. It continues to have 1920s décor and was like a trip back in time with some interesting tales to reveal. A fascinating and elegant hotel.

"Best accommodations in downtown Chattanooga!"
TripAdvisor user rating 5.0 out of 5

We love the art deco style, the feeling of luxury and really comfortable bed and pillows. Plus, the people at check-in are very accommodating. I prefer this to a bed and breakfast! If you have kids who need a swimming pool, you’ve got it. Breakfast spots and other restaurants are nearby. What more do you need!
