Stayed here for a conference and the staff was excellent! Makenna was great for checking us in, Nathalie at the restaurant for breakfast was friendly and attentive and Richard, the manager, was so welcoming, super responsive and accommodating!! First time receiving this type of welcome from a Marriott manager and I’ve stayed at many Marriotts! The lobby and bar area are also nice and there are restaurants and a mall nearby you can walk to.

Good location. Nice lobby area. Good valet parking. Smooth check-in process. Worn down room stuck in the 90’s. In need of a serious update. Carpet and furniture feels icky and beat up. Called guest services 3 times; no one answers. Just gave up. Sad state of affairs at the La Jolla Mariott. Would not stay again.

My husband and I were very pleased with our stay and would definitely stay again. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The gym was amazing - bigger and better equipped than most hotel gyms. The food and service were great - Natalie was our server for breakfast and she made sure we felt welcome and helped us get the best deal (we were ordering items a la carte and she suggested we just get the All American instead). Kudos to chef Mario for delicious food - I’ve had the Avocado Toast and Bagel and Lox, generous portions prepared well. My husband said the sausage and bacon were both good. The blueberry pancakes were made with real blueberries and very good as well. Sourdough toast was perfectly toasted - something I find hard to achieve with our toaster at home! For dinner, the burger is very good as is the reliable chicken Caesar salad. The tempura veggies were not really tempura but more of a battered and deep fried veggie dish, though. Delia at the front desk was super helpful in assisting me with the Bonvoy app to extend our stay while keeping the same room. And it was a delight to watch the hotel manager being present with such positive energy and even pitching in when the barista was taking a break. The hotel’s also within walking distance of an upscale mall (Westfield UTC) with shopping and restaurants. The one improvement would be if they could make the lobby a little warmer which is only relevant in winter. Overall an excellent stay and would stay again.

Had breakfast here 2 days in a row. The food was great and the service by Natalie was even better! She is great at what she does and made sure our experience was perfect! Miguel was also fantastic. I highly recommend this hotel and restaurant and make sure you ask for Natalie and Miguel for breakfast!

The room was dated, but it had a full office desk with a fridge. There was ample space to set stuff. Breakfast isn’t free, but they have a restaurant to order from. Starbucks is also available. It’s about 20-25 min from the convention center, about 10 min from the UCSD La Jolla campus, and a 10-min walk to the UTC mall (not walkable at night).
