The Condo was old and dated but clean inside the room, though it was so old and dated that it just felt dirty being in there. The cabinets and countertops in the Kitchen were wonky. Like the ones I have in our circa 1915 cabin in Montana. Not what I expected Oceanside on Kauai, especially for the rate they charged. The pricing was comparable with other VRBO's that we stayed at but with so much less to offer and no ambience to speak of. Our AC was in the bedroom and did not reach the living area or kitchen. The Building was in a similar state of dark and dirty. Main highway on the island is just behind a hedge that is 3 feet off the Lanai. The Coconut Shopping center it was next to was the best part. Food and a nice grocery Market made it very convenient to access coffee and food as we left this place first thing in the morning. Happy that this was Stop Gap lodging for us and we only had it for a night. If you are going to Kauai, and putting in all the time and effort, Go somewhere else and spend your hard earned money. Stay in lodging that you would expect to stay in while you are in Hawaii. There are so many options in this price range and so many other places to stay on the island that You Should not Find Yourself Here! If you do you can only blame yourself. The Management or the Owners really need to drop some of the excess money they finagle you out of in Resort fees and spend it on some Real remodeling and just quit putting yet another coat of lipstick on this pig. It looks like that is all they have done since the 1960's

"Great location…. Not so great room."
TripAdvisor user rating 3.0 out of 5
Reviewed March 19, 2025
The staff were friendly and the location was GREAT, but our room left a lot to be desired. I realize the climate is wet year round, but our room smelled horrible, and that made our clothes smell bad. The bathtub was cracked a bit and felt like it was going to fall through the floor, maybe from water damage. Our couch was part of an outdoor furniture set, I think, and not comfortable. The kitchen was dated, but had the basics. The beds were fine, but the pillows were oddly lumpy. The air conditioning seemed to only make the living room comfortable but didn’t really reach the bedroom. Besides the condition of our room, the facility was nice and the landscaping was very well maintained. The pool was awesome and we enjoyed the hot tub almost every night (the jets didn’t work for a few days, though). We were in Building A, so we were very close to the marketplace. That was super convenient. This is not a beachfront property. A large, fenced field lies between the hotel and the ocean. There is a walking path from the road, though. Overall, our trip was amazing but we’ll stay elsewhere next time.

Plantation Hale is a great place to stay. We’ve stayed here two times now and would again. The location is prime to the north and south attractions and beaches. The beach in front of the hotel is not swimable but is wonderful to watch sunrises. There’s a big piece of drift wood that’s makes there that is a lovely surprised and great for photos. The hotel is date. But the laundry is cheap and easy. If you’re looking to spend most of your time out and about this is a great option.

"Disappointing for the money I paid."
TripAdvisor user rating 3.0 out of 5
Reviewed February 27, 2025
This condo was a huge disappointment for the $1800 I paid. The place was super janky and in dis repair. The sheets on the beds were very dingy as well as the pillow cases. Mini blind in the front room was gross. Some of the cupboard doors worked and others didn’t. Just a big disappointment. I have been to Kauai 7 times and have stayed at places that were 100 times better than this place for about the same amount of money. I booked it because I thought I would try someplace new, lesson learned. Won’t be coming back here or recommending this to anyone.
