"The good the bad the ugly"

The good Hotel has a free shuttle to and from downtown which is very handy and free The Hampton is a stop on the trolley hop on hop off which was fun Free breakfast was adequate- tip jar is tacky Free drink coupons at pool bar and the pool was great We had a first floor ocean view room that was clean and large- none of the website show that A1A is between hotel and ocean the bad The stagnant water smell around the property can be bad At $450 a night I want more than 1 towel per person without having to ask It is at the end of the runway which can be loud I bought a few things at the market by registration-beside being 15 for two ice cream bars-no one asked for ID when I charged to my room the ugly I almost killed myself in the shower -the floor is very slippery-which I see has been mentioned, but obviously not addressed

I paid $1,765.00 for three nights. This was for oceanfront room 254. For this cost of more than 500 a night I can say the following should NOT be true: 1. Room reeked of bleach upon arrival 2. Shower floor was slick as ice. I slipped and slide my foot into the raised curb of the slippery base nearly falling into the glass. It was like stepping off of ice carefully getting out. 3. This is a big one: please note this is in no way an exaggeration or embellishment, the water flow from the shower was so low it was barely strong enough to remove soap from the body. I don’t think it can even be called flow. I can’t overstate enough how low the pressure is. 4. Inoperable exhaust fan in the bathroom. 5. Free drinks coupon disallow anything with a name brand. 6. Breakfast eggs are shredded. Need to be eaten with a spoon. Same for the extra thin bacon. Shredded to fine particles. 7. Tablespoons in outdoor area for eating breakfast are terribly sticky. We never say anyone wiping them down. Presumably it was maple syrup covering them every morning we ate there. 8. Room balcony: chairs were terribly uncomfortable to enjoy. Forget about an evening cigar. Sign on the door: $250 fine dollar fine.

Really hate to leave Key West, but we must, taking off for Homestead in about an hour. Another beautiful day here in paradise. Scene from our balcony just before sunset last night. Did a whole day of touring yesterday. Did two 1.5-hour tours of the island on the hop-on-hop off. Plus did the Hemingway house this time, and the Sails to Rails Museum. We wanted to do at least one more museum, there were about a dozen more we thought we would like, but we were exhausted. Got back to the Inn and that free margarita was waiting down by the pool, it really hit the spot. Go Hampton Inn. Can't wait to return.

I'm a picky traveler. I research any property my family stays at and I have expectations that it's clean and has friendly staff. This hotel meets both! Quickly, things that are positive's: A shuttle that can drop you off in downtown Key West near the hub of activity and pick you up again. The Hampton is is a stop on the Hop On/Hop Off Trolley we booked. Very convenient! One bar drink per day, per guest. Free breakfast was good! A restaurant on site for bar food (not a stand alone restaurant. Just pony up to the bar and place an order.) Spacious and CLEAN rooms. The rooms, IMO, were overly BIG! I can find very little I didn't like about this hotel. It was clean, the rooms were spacious. We did order from the hotel restaurant one night (unusual as many Hampton's don't have this feature) and were delighted about how good the food was. Fellow travelers at the bar one night ordered as well. We all really liked the food. Standard bar food but really good. An added benefit we weren't aware of when we booked; there is a concierge at the small front desk area to assist you with touring or to answer questions. We found out that the Hop On/Hop Off Trolley we had booked actually STOPPED at the Hampton! What a nice bonus because then we didn't have to take the rental car to the ticket redemption site and hope to find a parking space that didn't cost a ton (parking is at a premium in Key West I was told). The only bad thing about this hotel ended up not being a big deal. It is RIGHT NEXT to the airport. And by that, I mean you could literally walk off the plane with your luggage and walk to the hotel without breaking a sweat. Now, you do get lots of planes, but they didn't seem to start until after 7 a.m. and were usually finished by 8 p.m. it seems. But they can be loud. Again, it didn't really bother us much because we were usually up before it started and went to bed after they seemed to be finished for the night. Maybe some kind of ordinance there? Not sure. Anyway, if you're looking for a decent place to stay that won't break the bank, consider this place. Just be aware that you aren't really close to the hub of Key West. But that's what we used the trolley for. AND, they also have a shuttle that picked up a group of us coming back to the hotel in the evening. Super convenient! Don't hesitate to book.

Hotel front desk were easy to work with. Housekeeping did a good job on a daily basis. Parking is good. Concierge was very helpful with explaining transportation choices and recommendations for attractions and restaurants. The pool was lovely and the pool bar staff did a good job. The hotel website leads one to believe all the units look out on the pool, and we were surprised to find our room looked out on some bushes. I cannot speak for all the rooms, but 119 has an airconditioner that is so loud you have to turn it off to watch TV. The breakfast was ok, they did not have decaf coffee, there is insufficient seating in the breakfast room and the outside tables had large white birds walking and pooping on them. The airport noise is excessive. One of the two coin washing machines was out of order and the one that worked was always washing hotel towels.
