"Best Pork Chop Ever!"

Estancia del Norte was a lovely hotel. From the water feature in the lobby to the courtyard, the atmosphere it set was peaceful. I loved having access to my room from two sides, with the inner balcony circling the courtyard, lit with strings of off-white lights, which made the evening quite nice. The bed was also perfect for me and I slept quite well. I have to specifically note some things about Paseo restaurant. First, the portions were more than enough, and my salad could have been shared by two people. For dinner, Daniella was our waitress. She was attentive, knowledgeable.abiut the menu, and had a welcoming, warm personality. She recommended to glazed pork chop. Oh my word. Hands down the singularly most excellent pork chop I have had in my entire life. I didn't know it could be that tender. The whole dish was balanced and delicious. It's just not appropriate to lick your plate in public, but I could've. Many kudos to Chef Ron for his delectable creation! I wished I could stay longer just to try what else he has created. Seriously, Ron, I hope you see this. Your meal capped for me what was already and incredible day. Thank you for sharing your excellent culinary skills.

"Try another location."

I was first disappointed with the airport shuttle service. This was the MAJOR contributing factor as to why I booked this hotel in the first place. We called at 9pm from the San Antonio airport to request a pickup, and was told the vehicle would arrive in about 5 minutes. After 25 minutes of standing in the cold at night, I called again for an estimate on arrival time, and was told again that the shuttle was about 5-7 minutes out. At that point - I googled how far the hotel was to the airport and lo and behold - it's about 6 minutes out. That tells me the shuttle was never sent out in the first place. Someone dropped the ball and it cost us to stand in the JANUARY COLD for NOTHING. The shuttle vehicle itself arrived 35 minutes later after the original call, but was nice and the driver was also nice. Check-in was nice on arrival, and the gentleman offered us water bottles in our room. The hotel has a unique vibe which was cool. The bar/restaurant was packed, though so it made for a very loud lobby. (They were hosting a wedding party, so I get it.) In the elevator, a fellow guest warned us that the rooms are too hot. Sadly, she was right. We adjusted the thermostat, but it's like it didn't work, and we were sweaty all night. There was massive chips in the paint on our room door. The TV was nice, and the bed was huge, the room was pretty clean. There was a strange "clicking" all night long in the room. I did not get any sleep! And the water bottles that were "offered" at check-in? They had tags that warned of a $3.00 charge - each. So much for that free water. I was sad to find out there were balcony-access rooms - that would've been an upgrade that would've made a huge difference for us. At check-out, the receptionist asked how our stay was - and her reply was "....oh.." That was it - no guest service at all. As the person who booked this hotel, I was embarrassed by the end of our stay. I will not be back. This hotel left me cold outside, and too hot inside!

Jessica and Daniella were fabulous at the bar! Very kind and the definition of southern hospitality. They both took the time to share their local knowledge of fun things to do and places to eat nearby, which was very helpful for our trip. Not to mention, they made great margaritas as well!
