Part of 26 group on coach tour. 6 of us went to the restaurant for dinner. Standard of dress for the waiter was a scruffy T shirt, When asked for the drinks menu he said we have everything and didn’t produce a wine least, so we had to guess. Food was acceptable but the guy was rushed off his feet. I complained to the front desk but they didn’t seem interested and said that they weren’t expecting to be that busy even though they had a 75 birthday party going on in the function room. With a party and coach group the organisation was pretty poor.

Room smelled terrible upon entry. The walls and door handles were scratched with fading paint. Curtain buttons didn’t work, and the connecting door looked like it had been forced open, with visible damage. The front door shook about every 10 minutes, which was disturbing. On arrival, the front desk agent, Paul, couldn’t even find my reservation and was about to charge me again for room, tax, and deposit—even though I had prepaid. I had to correct him so I wouldn’t be double-charged. Paul also never told me about paid self-parking; I only found out when I got to the garage and saw a payment was required. Most guests would expect self-parking to be free (much like at most hotels), especially compared to valet. But apparently not here! Despite these issues, there were no apologies or basic courtesy from Paul. I ended up charged $12 for parking—even though I checked out less than 20 minutes after arrival because the room was simply unclean and unsanitary. I had tried to get a refund before check-in due to a family emergency, but was denied. I came alone, hoping for a decent stay, but the unacceptable room condition made it impossible. Checked out early. Deeply disappointing experience—not just at the hotel, but also with @Expedia, who did nothing to help with refunding or resolving my reservation. @Paul (Front Desk Supervisor) @Expedia - No help at all

Used this hotel as a stop off on the way to Yosemite. Nothing wrong with the hotel, nice bar/restaurant, clean room, BUT and it is a big BUT the noise from the freight line within 1 block was unbelievable. As there are no manned crossings every train blew its whistle at every crossing throughout the night. If you want a quite night GO ELSEWHERE

Absolute disgusting. Make sure if you get a room check your blankets not the sheets. Lift them up with light behind it. Absolutely dirty. I don’t know what it is but it’s not clean. Looks like urine, dirt, bedbugs and puke all combined. Never felt so dirty in my life. That’s just the blankets who knows what else is dirty. Definitely don’t recommend staying here if you like a clean and sleeping environment

We booked a suite at the DoubleTree Modesto for a special night with our kids and their friends to see the Weird Al concert. As soon as we opened the sofa bed, there was a used condom in plain sight. Not tucked away, not hidden—right there as the bed was pulled out. It was absolutely disgusting and humiliating to discover this in front of our kids and their friends. It completely ruined what should have been a fun night. For a Hilton property, this is inexcusable. Cleanliness is the bare minimum, and this was a complete failure. As a longtime Hilton Honors Diamond member, I’ve stayed at many Hilton properties around the country, and I’ve never experienced something like this. I will not return to this hotel, and I’d strongly caution anyone considering it.
