About the 9/11 Memorial & Museum

The memorial and museum were dedicated by Barack Obama on May 15, 2014, and opened shortly after.

A competition to design the memorial in 2003 brought in over 5,000 entries. Architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker triumphed with their design called “Reflecting Absence.”
