Hello & good day,
I have more of a question than a comment.
I saw on the Chicago local news that there is going to be a festival for St Patrick’s Day on the 12Mar22 by the Old St Pat’s Church in the west loop. That tickets could be purchase online. I am unable to locate this information. Can you please confirm this information? Or if you may have a link where I may be able to access, this would be very helpful.
Many thanks,
Robert Garza (Irish for the Day)
Hello Robert! Here is a link to the event, it sounds like a blast. Have a great time!
Will be in Chicago on March 17, will it still be dyed green for St. Patrick’s Day?
Hi Edulay, the green dye only lasts 24-48 hours in the Chicago River. I wouldn’t expect to see those bright emerald hues on the 17th. We hope you enjoy the Windy City!
I don’t understand why they wouldn’t do it in the 17th??? The actual day of st pattys. That makes no sense.
Totally agree! Why do it the week before? The 17 th is on a Thursday 🤷♀️ We were planning on coming that weekend. .
It used to always be ON the actual holiday – until the city forced all parades to weekends only. Our Irish Mayor reluctantly had to include St Pat’s in fairness. So…🍀
17th is on Friday.
Us too! This is total baloney!
Totally agree. Hogwash
Will there be any parades on March 17th?
Hi Maggie! It would appear that Chicago does not have any parades on March 17th. Thanks for reading!
This is total Bul*$*it! What happened to Chicago? What happened to the Democratic Party? Just sickening and so disappointing. Well, I hope as tradition has it, that I will be able to celebrate my heritage in Chicago where my family proudly migrated to from Ireland. 💪🍀❤️ #MakeChiTownGreatAgain 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Is there a 5K run this year? I see old links but nothing current.
Hi Joey! The Shamrock Shuffle isn’t on St. Patrick’s Day, but it looks like the greenest, luckiest, leprechaun-filled option in Chicago this year. Happy running!
Hi,
Are there any kid/teen friendly restaurants near the Chicago River? I’d like to bring my teen to see the dyeing of the River and then a nice place to have lunch after.
Is there a reason why all the festivities are happening one week prior to St Patricks Day?
