I normally stay at Hilton affiliated hotels. So for our trip to Gatlinburg we narrowed down to Hampton Inn’s, downtown or historic nature trail. In the end opted for the nature trail one purely because it was slightly cheaper. We reached by car in the evening and got a room on the 6th floor. We had a back view of the mountains. Room was large with two queen beds. Reasonable sized bathroom and everything neat and clean. There was a coffee maker in the room and also an iron. Parking facility was good and we did not face any issue. Wifi was working fine during our stay. The hotel was quite central but of course not on the downtown strip. It was a 20 minute leisurely walk to the downtown. But keep in mind the return is slightly uphill. The hotel was pet friendly. Some improvements: 1. There is no safe in the room. So if you are used to one you will miss it. 2. The breakfast is simple. Basic scrambled eggs (or omelette on alternate days), potatoes, boiled egg (but somehow quality of boiled eggs was sub par and were difficult to unshell them). Cereals, some basic bread choices, yogurt and waffles. Juice, tea and coffee. So basically nice and simple but some addition of fresh fruit cuts could be better. (Although bananas and apples were available). Overall a nice place to stay with very easy access to the Roaring Fork Motor Trail. Also hotel is slightly away from downtown so chances of getting stuck in traffic are low.

The staff were rude ! They treated us poorly like our money was not good enough! We wanted to be treated with respect and dignity ! Didn’t get a welcome greeting! The room didn’t have an enough light! The free breakfast was good the first night! The staff kept talking about us and looking at us! Our money is as good as anyone else! Enjoy the pool and the firepit ! When we check out the clerk at the front desk did not ask us how was our staff ! Just handed me my receipt!

"Good location except for the hill! Beware of dogs!"

The location of this hotel is perfect is you are looking for something in walking district of the strip. However, there is a big hill you need to walk down to get there, which means you have to walk back up. The free trolley does have a stop in front of the hotel which is nice but it is a 30 minute trip to get to the strip. As for the hotel itself, it is getting dated. The towels were very small and thin and the rooms are ready for a refresh. My biggest issue was that Hampton's now allow dogs of all sizes. In the evening, there were multiple dogs in the rooms that kept barking. When we said something to the front desk, they said that this is now corporate policy and that they can't deny someone with dogs nor can they designate areas of the hotel as pet-free. So, if you have allergies, beware!

"Rude Night time desk call"

All was well from Tuesday up to Friday night. My daughter added a charge to the room on Thursday evening. Friday night at 10:15 pm, the front desk called the room. The phone rang until I woke up to answer it. Yes, I was asleep. It was a lady at the front desk demanded I bring my card down so they could have it on file. I asked if it could wait until morning, I was told no, I had to do it now. I was pissed. (Reservation was made with same card). Went down this morning to complain and it was like they didn’t care. Oh she shouldn’t have called so late, sorry. That’s it…..does this look like professionals doing their job? We have two more days here and I promise I will not never stay at this Hotel again!

"Good, Clean Accommodation"

A clean welcoming room provided a microwave, refrigerator, and working space. Comfortable beds and ample space in the bathroom for three girls was enjoyed. Breakfast offered a wide variety of breakfast treats. Eggs, sausage, golden potatoes, and waffles gave us a yummy selection. Breads, oatmeal, and cereal rounded out the selection. It was a bit of a jaunt downhill to Gatlinburg’s Main Street, but enjoyed the walk back after dinner. We would return to this Hampton Inn.
