Wyndham Garden Williamsburg Busch Gardens Area in Williamsburg, VA

I recently spent 5 nights at this hotel as part of a trip to experience Christmas Town at Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg during the holidays. I was aware that the hotel is currently under renovation so I fully expected some good peppered with some not so great experiences. The lobby looked fresh but not necessarily "complete" in it's renovation. We checked in and were given room 701, a King room on the 7th floor overlooking the parking lot. The room was adequately cleaned and looked fairly recently refreshed with new furnishings, carpet as well as new bathroom fixtures. Upon turning on the flat screen TV it did not connect to any stations or services. I called the front desk and the clerk came up immediately and tried to rectify the situation, then realizing that the WiFi was not working had to go downstairs to reset the WiFi. She then reappeared and logged our TV into the WiFi and said you are all set, you can go ahead and log into your services i.e., Youtube TV, DirecTV or Amazon Prime. The only available service provided by the hotel was Freevee, showing old content. No local news, weather or national stations were available. We resigned ourselves to the fact that we could survive watching what was available, however the WiFi was sketchy at best, frequently going out and requiring us to reconnect the TV to WiFi on a daily basis. One night however the WiFi went out around 10 PM while we were watching TV, I called down to the front desk to have it reset, however no one answered the phone. We gave up and used our Mobile Phone hotspot to watch TV for the rest of the evening. Minimal housekeeping was offered on a daily basis with change of linens and full cleaning offered every 3 days ( we were made aware of this at check in, also that hot breakfast was offered on weekends from 6:30-9:30 and continental on weekdays). The weekend breakfast consisted of Scrambled Eggs, Sausage Patties, Hash Brown Potatoes, Toast and Cereal. The handles on the toaster were broken and the juice machine was out of order for our entire stay. The weekday "Continental" Breakfast consisted of bread for toast and envelopes for hot cereal and cold cereal, No fresh fruits, no bagels and no pastries. On our check out day (Tuesday morning) after pouring a bowl of cereal to go with our toast, we were informed that they were out of milk. No offer to send someone across the street to Target to purchase some, just a "Sorry", at this point the staff member brought out some bagels to "round out" the offerings. I titled my review I really wanted to give this hotel a great review based on the majority of the staff that we encountered during our stay, who overall were warm, friendly and accommodating. The standout staff member during our stay was Max, who was warm and engaging and seemingly willing to do anything possible to make our stay as pleasant as possible. They really appeared to want to provide the guests with a great experience but were confined by the hotels inherent limitations. This property holds promise to be a very nice hotel, but really needs to have some roadblocks removed if it is to reach it's fullest potential. The location is excellent with proximity to many points of interest, however at this point in time does not live up to what I perceive to be the standards of a Wyndham property.

The rooms are beautiful. The food is amazing and based off my experience here I give this 5 stars. If you want to come please book now this is better than any hotel I have ever been/visited this is my opinion but if you’d like please book it’s really fun and the view is amazing!

Let me begin by saying the front desk staff was so polite! They are under construction- the bed was comfy- but now to the bad. Housekeeping left a lot to be desired. There were multiple hairs in the bathroom floor. One of the pillows clearly was waded up very wrinkly and did not look like it was a clean pillow case. The down comforter is between a sheet and the bedspread and not tied down so you can’t sleep with it around you- it was stained up and I was not putting it anywhere near me, so I slept with only a sheet. We stayed 2 nights and had requested housekeeping- the beds were remade and the towels were changed however there was no vacuum done. The hairs were still in the bathroom floor and the feathers from the pillow were still in between the bed. If they would clean a room good we would have no complaints!

Most disgusting and filthy hotel I have ever stayed at and will never recommend it to anyone. The curtains had several holes. The curtain had a huge bug. The internet was slow. The sink was clogged before we got there. We booked for two nights and we had to leave after the first night because the place was so filthy….

The computer was down so we had to check in via text. When the desk agent was handed my phone he checked the 5 star rating and then denied it when we called him on it. The lack of cars in the parking lot should have been a clue, but we arrived at midnight and had been traveling since 2am and were exhausted. The lobby looked ok but we quickly discovered they are in the middle of a bad remodel! The elevator area smelled like exhaust. The room was dark and dirty. The bathroom was a nightmare and the undersized toilet seat was only fastened on one side. The new shower head was quickly overshadowed by the shower install. The shower flooded the small closet sized room. The newer electrical outlets were not compatible with AC/DC plugs and we didn’t have a converter. If we hadn’t have been so tired we would’ve left after stepping into the room. The photos we saw on the website are not from this hotel!
