Just minutes from world famous destinations San Diego Zoo's Safari Park (20 minutes), LEGOLAND (25 minutes), San Diego Zoo (40 minutes), San Diego Gaslamp District (35 minutes), SeaWorld (40 minutes), Temecula wineries (20 minutes), area casinos, and some of the most beautiful beaches (30 minutes) in the world!

Hyatt Vacation Club at The Welk offers luxurious and spacious one and two-bedroom villa suites, with panoramic views of golf courses or surrounding mountains. Villas include sitting and dining areas, complete kitchens with full cookware and dishware, patios or balconies, and complimentary high speed Internet access.

Guests will experience casual dining at Canyon Grille restaurant (not open for breakfast) or Pizza Hut Express, fun in the sun at Five Clubhouses featuring one colossal pool and seven large pools & 8 spas, two water slides, two kids' splash pads and playgrounds, table games, catch and release fishing pond, extensive fitness center, basketball court, planned activities for all age groups, lighted tennis courts, and a relaxing round of golf on one of two 18 hole golf courses.

Our stay at The Welks was absolutely wonderful! the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, the accommodations were clean and comfortable, and the amenities exceeded our expectations. We especially loved the swimming pool with the water slide and big fire pit. It was the perfect place to relax and recharge. we can't wait to visit again!.

I made a trip advisor account just so I could express how disappointed Laurence Welk would be to see his resort. The people who served us were polite and helpful, although that single pro does not outweigh the cons of this 'resort'. From my understanding, the resort has not been renovated since its opening date. I'm fortunate enough to have come on vacation with my families timeshare, so it's aggravating to see their time and money wasted on a business that obviously does not care about their guests but rather maximizing their profits. What frustrates me most is trying to communicate over text message and calling, with this resort being stuck in the 1980's, they neglected that we live in a world of technology and it's a necessity to have access to that communication especially when theres 10 people spread out between different rooms. Believe it or not, I can't make a call or text inside my room, on the balcony, or even outside my room. Instead I had to go to the third floor just to connect to a call only for it to fail two minutes later. Collectively, my family has T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&AT, so I KNOW that it's not the providers fault. We all experienced the same issues. Above all else, they still use CABLE, can you believe it? An outrageously horrible experience, please do not come here unless you want to golf all day and then leave.

Kudos to the Welk Resort for a beautiful resort. We were greeted daily by the grounds, housekeeping, and office staff whenever we saw them on our daily walks. Great location for visiting San Diego. Things that can be improved are the kitchen amenities. We had nesting glass bowls with lids, placemats, etc. in the past. On this visit, we were missing, of all things, a coffee maker, blender and things like can openers. While everything was eventually brought to the unit, we still had to call every time we realized we needed something that was missing. I love coming to this resort so I hope that the Welk Resort can improve on this shortcoming.

The WELK is a large sprawling complex with one restaurant on-site which was closed 2 of the 7 nights we stayed. Count on a 20 minute drive to get to the closest restaurant off-site. Although the villa that we had was spacious it showed its age. The bathroom appeared to have had a facelift recently but the cabinets and millwork was very tired. The kitchen was straight out of the 80’s, broken sunshine ceiling and all. Being a Hyatt, one would think that they would have a renewal plan in place in order to keep the property fresh and modern. We lost WiFi at one point and the staff informed us that we had to contact IT support to resolve the issue, not something that one should have to do on vacation, I’m just glad I have an IT background, I’m not sure how others would cope. Keep in mind you are an hour from San Diego, 30 minutes to Carlsbad and the coast.
