We almost didn’t book this hotel due to the many negative reviews online. Cabana Bay is an exceptional value for staying on property. We had a ground level, poolside family suite with exterior entry. Room was clean and gave us enough space for our two teenagers. Resort has everything you need - two pools, lots of food options, bowling and an arcade. We were lucky to have been given a free upgrade to a room facing into the resort - but the $20 per day would have been worth it. We stayed in building 1 which gave us easy access to the garden path to walk to Sapphire Falls to catch the water taxi. Only downside was that the slide was under major renovations. This was not mentioned anywhere on the website so that was disappointing (especially since we only booked 2 weeks in advance). Then the Lazy River was closed for “unexpected maintenance” on our last day. We also weren’t aware that the parks close early - usually 7:00 or 8:00pm. We are used to Disney where the parks stay open much later. All in all, this is a great place to stay with a family of all ages. Highly recommend.

This is a good place to stay for a family trip if you are going to Universal for your entertainment. We went during our spring break at the beginning of April 2025. I am not sure why everyone else has such a negative opinion but it was actually better than my expectation. The vibe is very retro. Think California in the 60s. On the big screen in the cafe there were 60s Avis commercials. In the rooms they had Zest soap and V05 shampoo. It is a very big campus so, yes, there is a lot of walking. The hotel has to accommodate a lot of people so the spaciousness of it all does make everything seem far. The main lobby is in the center and separated from the 4 to 6 wings of rooms. Maybe we were just fortunate, but our room was clean and not worn like I had expected. We were close to the lazy river pool on the Americana side and did not hear a lot of noise at all. We chose the parking lot side as the pool side was $20 more. Maybe that i why it was quieter. They have a large cafeteria area with a lot of seating, a bowling alley upstairs and a gift shop separating the rooms from the main lobby. We paid to park to also leave and see other parts of Orlando so sometimes I would drive to the lobby and then back to the room. They have text service to communicate if you need anything or have issues with the room. They were very prompt with their responses and experienced nothing but courtesy from the staff. We were there to see the sights of the park and were not expecting drinks or to be catered to as soon as we walked in. It is a normal typical American hotel. Its not the Ritz, but its not Motel 6 either lol.

DO NOT STAY HERE AT ALL COSTS This hotel is now barely classed as a no frills hotel , very poor upkeep, lots of damaged and warm out fixtures and fittings, Bedding and towels are no longer done daily If your travelling with virgin holidays No welcome drink No inflatable tubes No free parking Our room had a light out Low battery on the safe No hot water Fridge that isn’t cold Was told to get some ice and put that in We also wasn’t told the pool slide was out of action and that there was major construction to part of the slides fake diving board Which meant 75% of the pool was closed So happy I paid extra for a pool view This hotel should be avoided at all costs now I’ve no doubt missed a lot of problems But the is a genuine review

"Service is lacking"

Pick another place. The only upside to this hotel is that it's within walking distance to Volcano Bay. In general, they are short staffed, you'll be doing a lot of walking as the parking/ food etc. is far from most rooms, it's a little worn. When you arrive, there are spots to park briefly but you won't know that because no one is at the entrance area giving any direction or help. The front desk folks will let you stand there waiting 'til they finally look up and (like you're an after thought) summon you over to check in. The "vacation planning" desk seems to have one answer "it's on the mobile app" so again, it's like you're annoying them to ask questions. (Good help seems to be hard to find.) The pools are fine but you will need to purchase an inner tube for the lazy river. The pool area bar closes at 10PM, not an issue. BUT the lifeguards /"rec" team close the area and literally herd everyone out. You can't sit and finish your drink. You can't even go back to your room through the gate nearest your building> they make you walk back toward the lobby area to go back to your room in the other direction. It's as if you're a kid at summer camp and they decided it's lights out. Not very resort-like. It is kid friendly with family rooms. The cafeteria style Diner seems very easy to navigate with plenty of seating. The vibe is fun mid-century. But overall, service is fair to poor.

"Okay, but wouldn’t stay there again"

We stayed in for a long weekend. Overall, I think it’s fine for families and shuttle was convenient but the accommodations and amenities felt worn and we waited until after 5pm for our room to be ready- not cool considering I followed their online pre check in . Here’s a summary of our experience: Cons - Our room wasn’t ready at check in time. We had to wait in lobby with our hungry, tired kids until after 5pm. No consolations were offered though when we pushed, they did remove parking changes. - Door security lock was low enough for young children to flip, allowing direct access to outdoors which didn’t feel safe as we were on 4th floor. - Microwave had to be replaced during our stay and the fridge door wouldn’t stay shut. problems - Sofa/chairs/tables were quite worn. - Splash pad was pretty run down - No room service - WiFi not usable - couldn’t barely look up park hours. Pros: - Kids loved lazy river but you do have to buy your own tubes. - Multiple pools - Convenient shuttle to parks
