"Fell for scam at nice resort"

I have a few complains to voice. 1. Our family got a deal while at six flags to come to the welk and MANY things that were promised were not given to us such as, all of the activities being free (quite the opposite), the room can sleep 6 (it was actually 4 so my wife had to get an extra room for double the price), the dates that the sales person said were available were not (there were almost no days available), and the resort was close to the water (45 min drive). 2. The washing machine was a dryer-washer combo that took 6 hours for only one load. 3. My wife and I had to do a 2 hour timeshare talk that was not even mentioned by the sales person at the amusement park. 4. The timeshare presenter was rude and made the resort look very un-appealing. Putting all of this aside, the pools are very relaxing as well and the people who run the rec centers. All in all, I would come here again with some caution but certainly never fall for the endless hole that is the sales department.

"Timeshare presentation is a scam"

Scam!! This resort is a timeshare and you are encouraged to go to a presentation. Not an issue for me as I am a 25 year owner with Wyndham and have attended countless presentations over the years. As a Hyatt Globalist, I thought I was safe attending a presentation here. NOPE! After almost a month of contacting the resort and Hyatt, they refuse to provide they agreed upon amenity after a presentation. I attend a 3 HOUR presentation and was told by the resort that my bonus has been administered. Again NOPE. I have spent hours trying to resolve this both at the resort and with Hyatt directly and no one will response or assist. It’s always someone else’s issue. I understand how timeshares and presentations work and have never been treated this poorly. I advise if you go to this resort, DO NOT attend a presentation, much less buy in. Otherwise the resort was ok. I couldn’t use my tv the entire time as I didn’t have a remote despite asking for one repeatedly. At least, my stay me showed me my Wyndham timeshare properties are better.

Based upon stays at other resorts this was one of the better ones for activities for the family. Even though we used exchange they were extremely co-operative and did not push for us to buy into their program.

"Disappointing"

We stayed at the Welk for a full week in February and used two different pools over our stay. After using the hot tub (first and only time) on our fifth day I developed hot tub rash. At first I didn't know what it was but after speaking with a doctor they confirmed it was hot tub rash (folliculitis). By the time I got home (three days later) it was unbearable and covered most of my body. I had to go in-person to see my doctor and was prescribed a 10 day antibiotic. I always shower after using pools and hot tubs and have never experienced this before. My doctor said it is not uncommon to get the rash and it is caused by poor maintenance (staph bacteria in the water). I notified the resort while we were staying there and although they were empathetic I got the impression they didn't care. I did contact customer service once I saw my doctor in person and they never followed up. Overall we didn't love our stay and would not return for other reasons (i.e., at check-in we were not told we were only entitled to one room clean for the duration of our stay and any additional cleaning was at a cost plus the floors (carpeted areas) were definitely not vacuumed before we checked in). One positive was that the people working at the resort were always friendly.

"Bring cash and a car!"

Beautiful resort with a fanatic gold course, clean suites, lots of family fun activities! But be warned! The activities start at $18. The only places to eat are canyon grill (not open Monday or Tuesday) and Pizza Hut express. Canyon grill smells like water damage and because you’re in the middle of nowhere Pizza Hut express serves up mall food court quality at luxury resort prices. It’s in the middle of nowhere! There are not any transit options, Uber to Escondido ranges from 25-40 a trip, to SanDiego 80-250 a trip. Lastly the internet and cell reception sucks!! Don’t be thinking you might be able to check your email or rent a car while you’re here cause the internet speed is 2mbps but don’t worry the front desk made me call IT and open a ticket! Should be resolved never!! If you’re coming here to hangout with kids or old people or golf, this is perfect! If you’re young fun and want things to do don’t think you’ll save a few $$ staying here, book downtown San Diego instead.
