"Location and value!"

I looked at a LOT of places before deciding to go with The Sofia Hotel, and I made the right decision. The location is excellent in the downtown area, but still quiet, a few blocks from Trolley and bus stops right across hotel, get your Pronto cards!!! They were a great value and pleasant to ride. Little Italy was about a 10-15 minute walk, so access to great restaurants etc, and the walk is pleasant. I found the price of the hotel was also very reasonable. The hotel itself was extremely clean, quiet, very peaceful. Rooms were great, beds were comfy. Staff was very pleasant and helpful when needed. Check out was a breeze. If I ever come back to the area I would dtay again! Some reviews mentioned the rooms were dark, there are privacy type roll up shades on the windows and plenty of lamps Tip: Really get a Pronto card!!!!!

There was an issue with my third party booking site such that I showed up to check-in and there was no record of my reservation. The staff at the hotel were wonderful - they kept offering me things (water, chocolate, etc.) as I became more and more distressed trying (and failing) to get in touch with the booking people, and ultimately were able to accommodate me at the last second for nearly the same price as my original reservation. I was so grateful!! They really went the extra mile for me even though they had nothing to do with the error.

"Reliable Hotel, Terrible WiFi"

Its an old hotel. Don't have high expectations. But its very clean and well maintained. Its a bit dark and musky for me but otherwise VERY convenient to the San Diego Convention Center. I would never stay in this hotel again given how incredibly unstable their internet connection is. It unreliably drops at sporadic, short spurts, making it unpredictable to do any work or have a Zoom meeting.

"Horrible Staff - Nice Hotel"

The staff is horrible. They make you feel like you're bothering them. They don't greet you even if you greet them first. They won't even acknowledge you when you walk right by them. Any question seems to annoy them, and they respond bluntly. Zero help. Zero kindness. They don't seem to realize they work in hospitality. The hotel itself is nice and comfortable—simple and straightforward. Very well located.
