I love historic hotels and this is one of my favorites! I would give it 5 stars but for a few small conveniences travelers may expect and will get to those later. The hotel itself is beautiful with soaring decorative ceilings and well appointed furnishings. You’ll find yourself looking up and taking a lot of photos during your stay (don’t be shy, everyone does it)! You’ll also find photographs of the early days of the Academy Awards held at the Biltmore as well as other key events, people, fashion, menus, etc. The service is excellent and every employee I encountered displayed pride in their work and the utmost helpfulness and engagement. This hotel employs union workers and you can feel that in the employees’ dedication and knowledge. While there is no restaurant per se the Gallery Bar is beautiful and has a full menu - great food, drinks and service. To the small conveniences: while the bed is comfortable, the room quiet, and the shower warm and strong, there were no glasses in the room (though there was an ice bucket) and I was given bottled water on checkin. My room had a separate vanity, but no chair, and the mini fridge didn’t open so I couldn’t keep any snacks that needed refrigeration. There was a coffee maker! These are very small points, and didn’t affect my overall enjoyment, but if you’re expecting the plethora of soaps, hair products etc and fancy coffee makers provided by big chain hotels, you may be a bit piqued. Outside of the above, I love this hotel and enjoyed meeting all the international travelers, the atmosphere of history and elegance, and the stellar service.

Everybody at the Biltmore was very kind and sincerely helpful. I really enjoyed the staff there. I think they made me feel welcomed in every area! I also love the lounge. Definitely felt like the VIP treatment there! The hotel Inn and of itself is so iconic and full of history.

"Wonderful Lobby but room was lacking"

Wonderful lobby and public places. Staff friendly. We had to change rooms because toilet was broken. Quite stingy with room amenities. Two coffee packages with the coffeemaker, no tea. Bath products minimal, so were the towels. Close to public transportation, if you're not too freaked out by the homeless population across Pershing Square.

"Historic hotel with the best valet and bell service"

Leo our valet was our first introduction to the hotel. He was nothing but helpful and informative! After Leo, our check in was a bit impersonal. Front desk staff is not the best I've had. However, Carlos, the bellhop was our next interaction. Not only was he so so helpful with the luggage, we got a little mini tour of the hotel and it's history on the way to our room. Once we got to the room, Carlos was so helpful and informative, we let him know this was one of our first times in LA and he set us up with a VIP bus tour. I would not recommend the tour personally but it is so nice just to relax for a day and see the sites. Leo recognized just every time we went to park the car and his smile and Hellos made our day (s)!! Miriam was our housekeeper one day. One of those days, we had many pairs shoes at the base of the bed, she was kind enough to line them up. We also lost an earring, probably on the floor, and she found it and placed it on the counter where we could see. The hotel was a historical beauty. With historical hotel there are some quirks. But if you are aware of that this is a must have experience!!

"Recommended for a nice seafood dinner."

Lobster-Guys in Woodland Hills, CA, is a small restaurant in a very large building. It looks like a federal courthouse or a huge bank, but is more of a commercial office building. The restaurant has four or five small tables, which filled up quickly while we were there. It also does a brisk take-out business. The menu features rolls with Maine lobster and Maryland blue crabs. Their full menu is online. Several family members enjoyed the rolls. I had petite lobster tails. While small, they were enough for a meal. The chef behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. He gave us complimentary cheesecake, which was excellent.
