I can't remember a more enjoyable stay in a US hotel. It is located within easy walking distance of such Portland icons as Sizzle Pie, Voodoo Doughnuts, and Powell's Books. The Benson is a classic, but it feels fresh and new at the same time. The room was capacious and--at under $200--a true bargain. Staff members were uncommonly friendly, and make sure to have breakfast in the dining room: It is delicious, and you will be waited on by Bobby, who has worked there for forty-plus years and is an utterly engaging unofficial historian of the Benson. My wife and I are looking for reasons to go back to Portland so we can stay here again.

Such a comfortable and pleasant stay, my mom and I had everything we needed and then some. Bobby in the restaurant is wonderfully generous helpful - I appreciate all of the staff and their welcoming and helpful presence. Would definitely stay here again.

We came to the restaurant for Christmas breakfast and it was unbelievable. Food was amazing and the decor was so festive and joyful. Our server Bobby was fantastic and had that warm and welcoming energy that is getting more and more rare. Highly recommend and if you can, definitely sit in Bobby’s section!!

My wife and I came to stay at this hotel for our 10th wedding anniversary. The moment that we stepped in, we were greeted by Philip Welz. He was very charismatic, kind, and helpful. He immediately made us feel very comfortable and welcome. He even upgraded our room because it was our anniversary. I will definitely be recommending Philip and The Benson to everyone that I know. I’m extremely satisfied.

Kevin Dale was absolutely amazing. He went above and beyond to work us into the hotel restaurant. Amazing. We really enjoyed how beautiful this hotel is from the ceilings to the walls. Everyone that works here is kinds and are extremely good at their job.
