This hotel is in a perfect location. Its upper-floor rooms have magnificent views of the river. The hotel is within easy walking distance of most city attractions. Its restaurant is not world class but offers good breakfasts with excellent service. The Royal Sonesta is an excellent base for exploring Chicago.

From the moment I and my family stepped on the premises, the staff were all welcoming, I was very pleased and impressed how amazing the Lobby smelled, I’d actually would love to know what the scent is called! The earth tones were aesthetically pleasing! I called for assistance from my room and Crystal A. Was very responsive and informative! Thank you! I will be back! This place is a must when staying downtown! Great location!

"Beautiful Hotel + Excellent Service!"

I spent a few nights at the Royal Sonesta Chicago Downtown this week for work, and I was thrilled with the overall service levels as well as the cleanliness of the hotel. I checked in midday on a weekday, and Victoria was so kind, professional, and helpful. I was honored to have been upgraded, and was truly overwhelmed with how amazing my room was - I could have lived there! I'm bummed that I couldn't have spent more time at the hotel considering my work schedule. I fortunately had a little free time to enjoy breakfast in the hotel restaurant one morning. Jose was quick with the coffee (thank you!) and made me feel so welcome. The frittata was also amazing (shoutout to the kitchen staff!) A big thank you to Kelsey Knight (who is a world class Hotel Manager), Erica Grays and her team (each corner of the hotel was pristine!), Steve Barker and Hui Sun Furlong (who continue to crunch those numbers so beautifully), Cindy Anastacio (who manages Area HR like a mom-boss), and Vikki Strache (for being the revenue boss that she is!) I will absolutely be returning to your hotel! If it's any consolation, I'm not just a lonely business traveler, but I'm also a mother of two who may travel on the weekends to Chicago. Since you so graciously upgraded me, I immediately thought about how wonderful the room would be for my family, which led me to understand that you have hotel rooms/amenities for kids as well. This is a big perk as a parent! You'll be the first hotel I think about for my family, and the first recommendation I have for any families or business travelers looking for a hotel in Chicago. Thank you so so much for making me feel welcome and taken care of!

"Decent hotel… wouldn’t stay here again"

The location is good, the rooms are ok, the breakfast is really good! Unfortunately those are the only good things I can say about this property, one of things I hate the most is a hotel that doesn’t even help you with your bags and take them to your room, the front desk and the lobby… look like they belong to a 2 star hotel… rooms are very noisy, you can hear all the noice from the street (I was at the 7th floor) so if you look for a good night sleep when staying at a hotel and are a light sleeper… this hotel is not for you… the showers… one of the tinniest shower curtains that I’ve seen so be ready to have water all over the floor after your shower

Great location to Michigan Ave (shopping) and the Chicago River ( bridge lifts). Close enough to walk to Macy’s on State Street! The sheets are the most comfortable I have ever slept on and I wish they could sell me a set! Bellman Billy and Charles are the BEST. Very friendly and helpful!
