I stayed at the Royal Grand Sonesta-Chicago Downtown from Feb 8-March 4. This trip was a combination of leisure and business. First, the customer service experience from Satara and Ian was impeccable. Satara was very impressive and business minded. She listened to my concerns about my reservation and handled the matter immediately also she vibrantly described what the hotel had to offer. The room was very well appointed and spacious with great work area. The bed was heavenly, I enjoyed 4 nights of well deserved sleep and much needed relaxation. Housekeeping was indescribable. The room was immaculate during my entire stay. Location-hotel location is centrally located by various resturants and shops. Nice area to walk from the south to the north end. Overall, the Royal Sonesta I would rate "5 stars" and would stay again. Almost forgot to mention Hoyt, the restaurant in the hotel has great tasting food and large portions. Breakfast plates and the steak meal were delicious. If ever in the area consider this hotel, you want regret.

Stayed here for four nights on a first time visit to the city and would highly recommend - the location is superb and the rooms are very impressive. If you’re able to secure a river view room then you won’t regret it, as the views are brilliant. Checking in early evening was fast and seamless and it was a friendly welcome. The numerous elevators serve the large number of floors quickly and the spacious room on the 11th was a very comfortable and cosy base. Decor was modern and the air-conditioning worked really well. There was a large TV with plenty of global channels on a sizeable storage unit, armchair and separate table although no light controls or electric sockets at one side of the bed. The bathroom was very impressive - two sinks and all the amenities you’d want in an area separate from the main bathroom, containing a large bath and sizeable walk-in shower. Toiletries were provided in big bottles and while the towels were a bit small they were of okay quality. It was a shame there weren’t any slippers of bathrobes provided but otherwise the bathroom was a delight to use. Housekeeping did a great job and always came back proactively later in the day. In fact all the hotel areas were spotlessly clean. One big criticism would be the quality of the wifi which was so poor to be unusable throughout the hotel but I can’t comment on the experience of the ‘premium’ chargeable option. Overall though it was a great base and I’d certainly stay again - if you want to be in a prime location with good value quality you should consider here.

Spent a midweek night here. The rate was very good as January is offseason. The location is excellent for getting around the Loop. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Room was large for similar options in the City. Met expectations. Valet parking is a bit pricey at $75 a night, but that seems to the going rate for that area. Only disappointment, and this is incredibly minor, is that the hotel restaurant/bar didn’t have beer on tap during our stay. Found that odd but, again, not that big a deal.
