Worst stay at a residence inn. Second day of our vacation the whole queen room we stay in was covered in bugs. We didn’t not eat in the rooms but ants were on all the surfaces, in the carpet and in the bed. We let the front desk know about the situation and they sent a nice cleaning lady to spray some cleaner on the counter but the ants came right back. We told the front desk again and they let us know that a exterminator was coming to deal with the bug infestation they are dealing with tomorrow and they will send him to our room to fix the bug problem. The next day when we got back to our hotel the ants were still there and gotten worse, all that changed is they made the bed. It was not fresh linens so the bugs were still in the bed. So we went down to the desk to see what’s going on. Apparently they sent the exterminator in the wrong room which there computer said. Even one of the other worker confirmed for us. They finally had one of the maintenance people spray bug killer in the room round the bed and all the furniture. They also had a lady change the sheets on the bed. In the 3 days of dealing with bug not one person asked us if we would like to change rooms and when we ask, they are apparently overbooked??? But I can book a room on my app for a same day stay with no problems. And the staff has informed us on multiple occasions that the management knows about the problems in the hotel yet do nothing to help.

Hotel was very clean. The area is quiet rooms good size. The staff very friendly. The daily breakfast was good. Not to far to local attractions (Legoland, beaches, outlet mall). Parking is free, some hotels in the area charge to park. Overall good stay.

Everything at the Residence Inn Carlsbad was excellent, from walking in the front door and cheerfully greeted by the front desk crew, to walking to my room and greeted by the housekeeping staff throughout the building, to my room itself, which was tasteful and modern and had all the amenities I require -- refrigerator, microwave, spacious room, comfy bed, variety of pillow types. The front desk crew were helpful in providing a list of nearby restaurants and gave insights with their suggestions, which proved to be spot on. The free breakfast was good -- appreciated the availability of non-pork and healthy items. Fresh fruit available 24 hours at the front desk.

I had a great stay here and would definitely pick them again for future travels in the area. First of all Hannah at the front desk was great during check in. I thought employees like her didn't exist and are only portrayed as such on TV, but nope, perfect employees do exist and one of them works here. As for the hotel itself, its clean inside and out. Location and surrounding areas look clean and safe in a perspective of travelers not from around here. There is a Tesla Supercharger station literally across the street, as well as a 7-Eleven and some other small eateries at "The Island" plaza I believe it's called. Legoland is very close by. The rooms were spacious and reminds you of a Embassy Suite or Extended Stay. This has a FULL kitchen, complete with sink, dishwasher, full size fridge, and an electric cooktop. Plates, utensils, etc are also included. So you can definitely cook here. The Living Area is roomy with a sofa bed. I will add though if you have people sleeping on the sofabed, the bathroom is only accessible by going through the main bedroom. WIFI/internet is included and plenty fast for everyday tasks. It was also reliable with no drops or reconnecting issues. The rooms seem a bit more dated than the main lobby and grounds area, but it's not a big deal or deal breaker. Breakfast is included and it's just OK. Hard to beat Embassy Suite's made to order omelettes at this similar price range. There are a variety of choices which usually are eggs, 2 protein choices (sausages/ham), potatoes, oatmeal, make your ow waffles, variety of breads, fruits, yogurt, juices, etc. The outdoor space is very nice with a pool, hot tub, half court basketball sport court, fire pit, grills if someone wants to grill. There is also a gym with weights, cardio machines. Parking was free also. The price isn't the cheapest, but not the most expensive either. For a family, this is a good option or for those who want something more roomy since its a suite.
