Hotel it’s so ugly now. It used to be such a beautiful hotel. The rooms needs a lot of renovation. The breakfast suck and it’s expensive. Even the coffee isn’t free there. The front desk people only ana was nice. Everyone else seems like they didn’t know what they were doing.

"Serious Safety Issues – This Hotel Shouldn’t Be Renting Rooms"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5
Reviewed January 15, 2025 NEW
I recently stayed at the Radisson Hotel Santa Maria with my husband, and unfortunately, our experience did not meet the high expectations we’ve come to associate with the Radisson brand. We’ve stayed at Radisson hotels in other locations and have always found them to be upscale and well-maintained, but this particular stay was disappointing. Upon arrival, it was lightly raining, and we immediately noticed the hotel was dealing with water leaks from the roof in the lobby. A section was taped off with a bucket collecting water, which was surprising given the minimal rainfall in the area. Additionally, parts of the hotel were under construction, which we were not made aware of when booking. We paid extra for a suite, which was likely one of the nicest rooms in the hotel. However, the experience was far from luxurious. The first thing I saw when opening the door was a bug on the floor—not the best first impression, though I understand that bugs happen. The issue persisted, though, as we encountered a spider the next day and another bug crawling in from the next-door room the night after that. The walls had visible water damage, and mold was growing along the ceiling—a serious concern for air quality and health. Additionally, the couch had a strong, dirty, old smell, making it completely unusable. We had hoped a couple of our grandchildren could stay over and use the pull-out couch, but after experiencing the odor, that was no longer an option. To make matters worse, the heater in the room was not working, which we only realized in the middle of the night when temperatures dropped. The next day, a maintenance worker brought us a floor heater and apologized, which we appreciated, but this is something that should have been addressed before renting out the room. Another serious concern was the shower temperature control. I enjoy hot showers, but the water temperature fluctuated dangerously, going from cold to scalding hot with the slightest turn of the knob. This is especially alarming because I believe this was an ADA-accessible room, and someone—especially a child or someone with mobility challenges—could easily get burned. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately. While I knew expecting my grandchildren to be able to go swimming was unrealistic due to the cold weather, the pool was supposed to be heated—but it wasn’t, which was still disappointing. If it hadn’t been the busy holiday week and if we weren’t in town to spend time with family, we would have left and stayed elsewhere. Frankly, I believe this hotel should be shut down and properly renovated before renting out rooms in this condition. Now, for the positives: • The housekeeper who cleaned our room once during our stay did an amazing job. I understand they only provide cleaning service every few days, especially during the holiday, so this isn’t a complaint, just an acknowledgment of her effort. I didn’t get her name, but she had a beautiful butterfly tattoo, and she went above and beyond to make sure our room was spotless. Her effort was truly appreciated! • The bed was comfortable, which was a relief. • The patio was nice, offering a decent outdoor space. Overall, while some of the staff were kind and did their best, the poor maintenance, safety concerns, and overall condition of the hotel made this a disappointing experience. I hope the owners take responsibility and make the necessary improvements because this is not the standard I expect from Radisson.

"Convenient, clean & roomy!"

Overall, a very nice hotel, with good service & restaurant on site. Stayed here with my BF to minimize a commute from SoCal to NorCal. We dined at a local steak house: “Shaw’s Steakhouse & Tavern” which I’d recommend (only about a 10 min drive from this hotel). Didn’t get a chance to test out the hot tub/pool, but they looked decent from our room.

I was going to travel to visit family....I always stay at the Radisson in Santa Maria by travel plans changed so was not able to take the trip. A family member did go and stay there and had a horrible experience. His room was dirty, and the pool area was filthy...Green spa and dirty pool and area around pool. Some one who was staying there had gotten sick and no employee had cleaned it up. Glad I did not stay there. I was told they are under new management and the Hotel has "gone downhill".

"FALSE ADVERTISING AND A HORRIBLCOLD BREAKFAST THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ASHAMED TO CHARGE FOR."
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5
Reviewed May 19, 2024
False advertising and a horrible breakfast that they had the nerve to charge for. I stayed there because of the beautiful sparkling pool - but IT IS NOT HEATED AT ALL! I like the cold - swim in MN lakes, but this was really cold. The hot tub was sort of Ok - not hot enough and a bit cloudy... The "breakfast buffet" was WORSE than any of the complimentary hot breakfast I had - and this one was $20!!!! Cold eggs, cold sausage, cold bacon (bacon was good quality) no toast, no muffins or bagels etc. This was actually worse than most of the cold complementary breakfasts. And the restaurant was never open. The staff was confused or lying when they said it opened at 4PM. This is in an area where there are no close by places to eat AT ALL!! Ice machine inside was broken and the remaining outside one ran out. Front desk people were mostly nice (the women anyway).
