"Disappointed travelers"

The start didn't go as planned. We arrived early so our cottage was not available (which we anticipated). The front desk said it would be ready soon so we were excited and waited around and had lunch thinking it would be soon (which it was not). We finally got the message that it was ready a few hours later and when we arrived via the shuttle, it was not what we booked online. We booked a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom with a king bed in one room and a queen in the other and were given a cottage with a queen bed in one room, 2 twin beds in another room, and a small sofa (?) in a very small 3rd bedroom. It took a few more hours for them to find something similar to what we booked (we were two couples traveling together and no one wanted a room with twin beds) so basically our entire first day was a waste of a day and VERY dissapointing! Once we got unpacked and settled, we realized how filthy our feet were. The delay we were told in getting us into this cottage was because they were cleaning it....everything was clean but the floors! You could not walk around without shoes on or your feet or socks would be black! On top of this, the 20% service charge that is automatically added to the bill for a tip was totally inappropriate! When I asked on 2 separate occasions that the 20% not be automatically added, because I wanted to write in my own choice of tip, I was ignored and the 20% was added anyway. I have no problem tipping for a service that deserves it but when I have to stand in line over an hour to order a drink, I don't think 20% is appropriate on top of the already escalated prices for a drink. I don't think I should have to tip $9+ for the 3 drinks that were ordered. This was our third trip to a Margarittaville resort and our worst experience.

My husband lost his license and when we got back to Boston I called margaritaville tracing our steps and when I spoke to Jaylin she went above and beyond to help get my husbands license back ( it was turned in and sitting in your safe ) ! She is an asset to your company and I wanted to recognize her for all her help! Thank you Jaylin

"Bed bugs and thieves"

Stayed in the cottage at 8004 Shaker Street. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! On top of waking up with bug bites all over us, the owner then tried to charge us $100 for “damaged linens” which we absolutely did NOT damage. Total money grabbing thieves.

The cottages are private and very clean and beautiful inside. Not a huge fan of steps, but dealing with it. Mauricio at Salty Rim Bar & Grill was very attentive with his amazing service to us with our drinks. He is also very friendly and positive. Coming back in near future.

"Bad Experience Stay Away"

We had a terrible experience with the management and stay at Margaritaville Cottages. First cottage assigned to us, the pool heater and spa not working. after a day of struggling with maintenance to fix the issue, we moved to another cottage as they were not able to fix the issue after several attempts. With 2 toddlers and all our unpacked luggage, food we inconveniently moved further from the resort to a cottage of lesser value. They put us in another cottage and told us it would have a pool and spa, no spa and the pool pump not working, also no heat for the pool. The unit was very beat up, marks all over the walls and furniture dirty and just hard abuse. Cottages are very close together and no privacy between units. long walk to the resort. We also had other mechanical issues with the cottage, A/C and Heat not working, we called Maintenace several times and they could not fix anything. Was a major electrical issue in the unit, with the pool pump and A/C working one or the other would shut down. Not many people at the cottages, which we felt odd and kind of creepy. Considering the service and price we understood why. Not worth the money. Poor service and slow to respond, waited on hold and did not return calls, on a scale of 1-10, We give it a 1. Very poor.
