"Terrible experience. March 2025."

Terrible experience. We spend a lot of time and money at this resort. We come spend long weekends at JW Marriott 5-6 weekends a year. 95% of our previous experiences were great. This trip in March 2025 has been terrible. 1) Paid for Terrace suite with King bed. When we checked in we were advised that our Terrace suite was not available and that they assigned us to a room in the Lanai suites; 2 queen beds. 2) We walked toward the Lanai suites and didn’t easily locate our room. We asked an employee how to get to the lanai suites. He’s said “umm I’m not normally on this side of the building so I’m not really sure.” So we found another employee and she had the same exact answer. Two employees couldn’t tell us how to get to our room. The female employee advised us to walk back to the front desk and ask them for directions. Bizarre. 3) After settling in later in the evening we called to the front desk around 7:45pm and asked for two additional blankets. At 9:15pm we still didn’t have the blankets. I called the front desk and the employee said “hmmm well that ticket was closed and they advised that the blankets were delivered.” I advised the employee that the blankets never made it here. He personally walked the blankets to us 5 minutes later. 4) We ordered in room dining at 8:10pm. As of 9:35pm the food hadn’t arrived so I called customer service and asked for an update. He put me on hold for 4 minutes and then got back on the phone and advised me that “you will have your food within the next hour.” I hope that this is a one off experience. For over $2,300 / night, and as frequent guests, we expected a much higher quality experience.

Chris was amazing and so fun to work with. He was very creative in poses and gave great feedback to capture the best look for all of us! We did not feel rushed and he turned our pictures around within 24 hours. He managed the time perfectly and we finished and got tons of great shots including the sunset! Would highly recommend! He even took a few pics with our dog! ❤️

"Not the Premium Experience We Expected"
TripAdvisor user rating 3.0 out of 5

Certain milestones in life—like a 10th wedding anniversary—deserve a truly special experience, which is why we chose to celebrate at the JW Marriott Marco Island. Unfortunately, while some aspects of our stay were wonderful, others left a lot to be desired. Pros: Quinn’s for lunch was fantastic – the mahi tacos were incredible, and I could eat them every day. The staff at the Sirene pool went above and beyond, making us feel truly valued. Our room was spotless and well maintained by the housekeeping staff. The in-room Nespresso machines were a great touch, especially since I have one at home and love the convenience. Cons: Misleading Room Categories – We booked a Gulf View room at Sirene but were given a room that was predominantly a street/rooftop view, which more closely matched the “Partial Gulf View” category. We had to advocate to receive what we originally paid for, though the staff did upgrade us the next day. Broken Promises for Our Anniversary – The front desk told us a "special surprise" would be delivered to our room, but it never arrived. When we followed up, we were told it had been mistakenly sent to our original room with no effort to make it right. The response from the front desk staff made it feel as though we should just be grateful for the upgrade and not ask for what was promised. Inaccurate Property Information – Several restaurants and stores had incorrect hours listed, leading to confusion when we arrived only to find them closed or already open. Excessive Noise Issues – Our room (7024) was directly above the bowling alley, and we could hear loud bass, music, and pins crashing well into the night. Additionally, the conference in town during check-in made the resort feel overcrowded and noisy. Unexpected Upcharges – From an $11 charge per bottle for sparkling water at dinner (without being told it was extra) to a $50 arcade experience that lasted just a few short games, everything seemed to come with a hefty price tag that didn't always match the value. Disappointing Dining Experiences – While our server at Ario was great, our steaks were forgettable, and my husband's Wagyu Strip was so fatty he couldn’t eat it—plus it left him feeling sick throughout the night. Quinn’s, while great for lunch, had painfully slow service in the evening, with long wait times and minimal attention to drink refills. Unpleasant Balcony Experience – A guest in the room next to us spent evenings smoking pot and coughing loudly, which made it difficult to enjoy our balcony. Lackluster Entertainment – The highly hyped sunset dancer was a major letdown. Instead of an elegant fire performance at sunset, we watched someone in a rolled-up towel skirt, vaping near the trash can before playing music from a broken laptop. His short performance (while decent) was far from the immersive, cultural experience we expected. High Costs, Low Luxury Feel – While we anticipated a premium price point, the level of service and experience did not always align with what was charged. Almost everything felt like an extra expense rather than an included perk of a luxury stay. Final Thoughts: While there were bright spots in our trip, too many moments required us to push for what should have been standard at a resort of this caliber. The lack of attention to detail, misleading information, and inconsistent service made it difficult to fully relax and enjoy what should have been a seamless, premium experience. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and makes improvements, as guests celebrating special occasions deserve better.
