"Hugely disappointed"

Had Easter Brunch reservations. This is the second time I’ve been disappointed with the entire experience. The food lacked flavor from the deviled eggs to the 3 greasy potato dishes. The ham was dry, the only salad was a tiny Waldorf salad, roasted carrots were so hard I couldn’t cut them with a knife, again no flavor. There was an omelette station but no one was ever there to make them. No bread selection. Had to request multiple times for plates to be removed and beverages to be refilled. Chocolate mousse desert was delicious. Carrot cupcake was dry. For a meal that cost $81, dinner was $65 + 20% Service Charge, to say I was disappointed, would be an understatement. I will not be returning, ever.

"Don’t recommend! Unclean, poor service and no help!"

This is not a JW Marriott experience and the worst Marriott I have ever stayed at. Our family is very well traveled and have never had such poor experience. First, we had a 4 night/5 day stay. The staff starts knocking on your door at 8am. We’re from California, so that’s 5am PST. We ask them to come back in a few hours when we’re gone for room service. Of the 4 nights we were there, they only showed up once! We’re gone all day and usually come back around 10pm. By the third night, we complained downstairs and they finally sent someone the next day. Our trash cans were all full and we had no towels left. We came home the 4th night and again, no service. I would think even a Motel 8 would send someone to take out the trash, needless to say a JW. They gave us a handicap room with a faucet that didn’t work. We asked for a new room and despite having gold status, the front desk said that the general manager stated that they will not move us but will send someone to fix our non-working faucet the next day. The blow dryer was disgusting. Old, peeling, sticky and cream still stuck on the back of the blow dryer. The baskets where they have your towels in were all dusty and filthy. The trash cans were also not cleaned and you can see residue from the last visitor. This hotel does not live up to the JW brand and I would never stay here again. Would not recommend anyone else especially if you’re traveling with family.

"Nothing "JW" about this property. Way below averaage."

Average property, unbecoming of a JW. Basic Marriott Courtyard at best. Run by kids without knowledge or/and experience in high end hospitality. Tired and depressing rooms, displaying poor lighting, small bathrooms, weak water pressure and most importantly an overpowering smell of "rotten eggs" coming out of the bathroom sink. Rough and unwelcoming bed sheets. Poorly tailored curtains that need to be closed by hair pins. The DND sign is ignored all the times. Staff walks in the room unannounced.

Most high end hotels focus on exceptional entrance motif etc. the JW Grand Rapids has an aesthetic clean front entrance. This property keeps an active change adding touches of art elements that catch your attention. When it comes to comfort the rooms that have been upgraded are focused on functionality and quality. The absolute best thing is the linens and pillows. Food quality could be improved with more creativity, design and quality.

"Breakfast was the highlight!"

Great stay! The room was a little smaller than I had anticipated but it worked just fine. Bed was super comfy. We stayed just overnight for my husband’s birthday before heading back home to DC. The surrounding area is nice and walkable. We sat outside for breakfast, which was really outstanding. The main cook is a character! Had a lovely time and would stay again if we were flying out of Grand Rapids again!
