Thanks to the reviews on TripAdvisor, I opted to NOT upgrade to the executive tower upon check in because I highly prefer more renovated rooms. And yes, the grand tower is nicely appointed with modern features but space is definitely tight. All the staff were friendly and professional, from doorman, reception, housekeeping, to dining service. Location is awesome as expected and talking distance to so many restaurants. A couple areas for improvement: 1) Don’t know why the heating system is so loud in our room. It was white noise so generally it was fine but it is x5 the volume of other hotels 2) Do not add buffet for your stay, just buy at the Starbucks or order from a la carte menu. The breakfast spread is so sad compared to all the international hotels we’ve visited and for $30 a person, I really felt like I was eating weeklong leftovers. We ended up just having coffee and juice because the buffet was so limited and stale. I would give that buffet 1 out of 5 started but the service staff were great. Not their fault the food was barely edible.

We had our daughter’s wedding there. The staff was outstanding!! The food was delicious and abundant. Highly recommend for weddings. The presidential suite was modern, luxurious and loads of room for the bridesmaids and bride to get ready for the wedding

I asked for an early check in bc we rode the train in to Chicago, arriving at 10:30am.tWe went straight to the hotel to check in and face michigan ave and an upper level I was told the room wasn't ready. The service manager told me it would be on the 21st floor and they would put a rush on the room to get cleaned. I was also told that I would be upgraded and they would call when the room was cleaned. Finally at 3pm we went to the front desk,asked if the room was ready. While standing there another couple came in and was asked if they would like an upgrade into a suite same as I. We got our room keys and had to use 3 different keys before getting to the room. We was never told what elevator to use. When we got into the room it was not an upgrade. We did not get any of the things we requested. Instead I got a room with a view into an apartment. I went down to the front desk again and asked about the suite and I was told that room was the only one they had for me. I asked about the other couple and their suite and I was told it was none of my business what other guest was given. Not once but twice. We checked out and went to the Marriot across the street. The assistant manager helped us out and saved our weekend. We had had a rough couple of days before that with a loss of a friend and a family member getting cancer. The marriot staff cares!!!!

Love this hotel but water bottles should be free in the room and not cost $$$ Also we had no paper cups or glass glasses so couldn't make coffee or make a cocktail in the room Otherwise its a beautiful hotel and the rooms were cozy and comfortable

Nice hotel, yet again completely done over by a fake resort fee which offers no benefit to the customer whatsoever, is only ever mentioned at checkout not checking and whose only purpose is to rip customers off. Stayed the following 2 nights next door in the holiday inn express, had a great breakfast wasn't conned into paying a service fee to pour a couple coffees and wasn't charged a resort fee. What a brilliant concept 👏 One very big positive of IC, possibly the best hotel pool I've ever seen!
