Great hotel. The pool and gym are nice and useable, the room at first did have a strong carpet powder odor, I had to crack open the window but eventually it did go away or I got used to it. The breakfast is great and the lobby is very nice for working as well. All in all great stay, I would just advise the staff that the carpet powder they use has an overwhelming scent. Out of the 3 hotels I've stayed at in Carlsbad this is the best overall, Omni la Costa is #2, and Days Inn Carlsbad was the worst hotel experience I've had period.

The lady Wendy at the front desk with the manly sounding deep voice and wearing glasses was so rude and unprofessional. I asked her for a complimentary water bottle and she gave me a nasty attitude and said you can buy it over there it was at least 90 degrees that day and I didn't want to spend $5 for a regular size water bottle. I told her I'm a Hilton honors member and she said it doesn't matter you can buy one. She said her manager Kevin doesn't let staff give any away for free. She was just placing the blame on him to get me out of her face and I called and asked to speak to Kevin the next day and he said he has no idea what the lady is talking about and he said whatever she said is not true. He was really polite and professional with me so I know she was lying about the water bottle thing. She has no place working customer service with that bad attitude of hers and I'm calling corporate to let them know about this.

Stay away from this unethical hotel and manager Kevin. He likes to charge credit cards even with a complete cancellation policy then refuse calls and emails !!! really professional! Pretty sad for a low end hotel like this that I have to reach out to a vice president level !

Horrible service. The reception staff was incredibly rude and incompetent, even mocking me. Room was not ready for check-in time and housekeeping didn’t attend the room despite putting in a request with the front desk. Room was not properly equipped with towels and linens. Decent property and layout, but one of the worst Hilton chain experiences I’ve had in awhile.

Great hotel. Good location for the Caverns. Only 25 mins to the caves. Clean, fresh, well equipped. Breakfast was very nice. Tea and coffee all day. A nice patio area in the back.(I’d have loved a pool though). Staff are friendly and very helpful.
