The resort was amazingly pleasing. I loved the decor throughout the building, the cozy room, and the outside seating area. The walk to the beach was breathtaking and an extra treat. My first time spending time on the beach during December. Very enjoyable visit.

The main entrance to the hotel is decent and the staff is nice, but the rooms look nothing like pictured online. They're older and dirty with dirty dark brown old carpet with dog poop stains on them. I dropped something white and when I bent down to get it, it had landed on the carpet and had brown residue from the carpet. I can only guess that it's from the large amount of animals we saw staying at the hotel. We also made a reservation and paid for an ocean view room but were given a parking lot view with a view of the trashy motel next door. There was also someone smoking in the room next door which would carry over into our room. Do not let the online photos fool you. On top of all of this, once we had checked out, reconciled our bill and returned home, two days later I continued to receive several hundreds of dollars worth of unauthorized charges from Guy Harvey resort. After hours on the phone with both a hotel staff person and then the manager who was very unhelpful and kept speaking down to me, it turns out Guy Harvey Resort had 'accidentally' charged us for another night at a higher rate AS WELL AS for incidentals when we hadn't even stayed there causing us several overdraft fees on our account. When I expressed my concerns, the manager Jaime kept saying it wasn't her fault. It might not have been her fault, but it was the fault of the resort of which she's responsible for maintaining and ensuring things are done right and making things right when mistakes are made. The way this situation was handled just made an already REALLY bad situation one hundred times worse. I'm STILL dealing with the fall out from these unauthorized charges. It was an AWFUL way to spend the holidays. The fallout that I'm dealing with from this hotel stay, I don't wish this on anyone.

We went to St Augustine to check our the holiday events. We thought we were closer to downtown but that is not the case with this hotel. It is right on the beach. This hotel was not impressive. You can tell it was a run down hotel prior and they just added Guy Harvey flagship with bright signs, mats and hanging pictures everywhere. We love the Guy Harvey name and merchandise but the hotel was just ok. We had a partial ocean view with a balcony. The most discouraging thing about our time here was that there was a party in the room next to us and across the hall. You could hear them being very loud up until 2 am. Thin walls and loud guests that are disrespectful do not make it a fun time. An advantage was the bar being right downstairs and the help were very friendly.

"NOT A “RESORT”"

- We really didn’t read the reviews for this place because it was a last minute kinda weekend getaway and thought, Guy Harvey on the beach, how bad could it be, right??? First of all, the room is about the size of what they call one of these new, ridiculous microtels, so that was disappointing right off the bat. Somehow we wound up in a handicap room. We could barely get the luggage rack down the narrow entryway, so good luck maneuvering a wheelchair in and out of the bathroom that’s right there in that narrow little hall. - Side note for those with physical limitations, this supposed handicap bathroom had a tub, so it is not a walk in, for anyone who has mobility issues and cannot climb over the side of a tub. Also, there’s zero counter space….none! - The shower has almost no water pressure. The shower head looks like a $5 shower hose you’d find at a dollar store. Camper showers have better pressure!!! Not a $300 a night room, idc where it’s located! - The walls are paper thin. You can hear EVERYTHING, toilets flushing, EVERYTHING!!! We were napping and the noise from the cleaning staff banging around in the connecting room was so loud it startled us awake. We thought someone had somehow managed to break in the door and I am not even kidding when I say we could literally hear them spraying their spray bottle they used while cleaning the next door room. - Balcony w/Partial ocean view was accurate, however the room does not have what would typically be sliding glass doors going out to the balcony. It has a small window where the view is what looks like old apartment complexes and a fire escape type exit door out to the balcony where if you sit in the corner by the door, you can indeed get your partial ocean view. - DO NOT go leaning against the balcony railing!!! It’s flimsy pvc pipe, not even connected to the wall. Aside from being an aesthetic atrocity, we could not possibly see how that passed a code inspection. We took photos. - The restaurant dinner we had was good the first night, not unreasonably priced for hotel food, but the next day my husband tried to order us dinner and the staff put him “on hold”. Really she set the phone down and he could hear an entire conversation she was having about nothing with another staff. After waiting several minutes, she hung up the phone, never taking my husband’s order. Needless to say we didn’t eat from their restaurant again. We ordered out and of course had to go down ourselves to get the food because delivery people are not allowed access to the rooms. - Back to the bathroom issue, we didn’t even get a full roll of toilet paper to begin with. When we called to ask for more, we were told we’d have to come down and get it ourselves. We had better service at ghetto motels we had to stay at, in our young & poor years. Not only are the hotel and lobby not connected, so that you have to walk outside to enter the lobby from a separate building, but at night the lobby door nearest the hotel rooms is locked, (can’t even use your room key), so you have to walk all the way around to the front of the buildings to access the lobby, which is very inconvenient for anyone, let alone someone with mobility issues, not to mention unsafe for a woman or someone with small children they can’t leave alone in the room. It’s especially inconvenient when you’ve already gone to bed and realize they have supplied no spare rolls of toilet paper. The next morning as we were leaving we found a little bag of tp hanging on the door. My husband spoke to the general manager about it after checking us out and she was very rude, commenting, “Well, did you get your toilet paper?”……A little late, since we were checking out. - We were going to ask to see a full ocean view room and consider giving this place a second chance with a more relaxing view, however the tp incident was the last straw for us, considering this is supposed to be a “resort”. This would be our first and last stay. Idk where these people stayed that gave this place high ratings, but our room was definitely not worth $300 bucks a night, even “in season” and this place is absolutely, in no way anything close to resembling any “resort”.

The friendly staff is extremely welcoming upon arrival. It is a nice beach property close to downtown via shuttle. Great restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A cute little gift shop. The wall art from local artists is an added bonus.
