Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Savannah Downtown/Historic District in Savannah, GA

This hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the riverfront, which makes it much quieter and a little cheaper than hotels on the riverfront. It is half-way between the river and the visitor's center, so it's a good location. You can walk anywhere in the historic district within 10-15 minutes. It was a typical hotel experience except for a few notable highs and lows. Lows: no hot tub or bathroom tub (lots of walking in Savannah, much of it on cobblestones, and at the end of the day my feet hurt.) the staff was curteous but they ignored me. I walked past the front desk to exit and enter the building dozens of times during my stay, and except for one time the staff ignored me. No "hello, how are you?" or "have a nice day" or even a smile. When I asked about a taxi for the airport the last day, they said they'd be glad to order one for me, and I should stop by in the morning. When I pointed out my early flight, they said to stop by later. Why later? When I asked if they would order it now so that I wouldn't have to stop by later they did, but I thought they should have just done it then and not told me to stop by again. the bathroom sink is set back in the counter several inches which made it more difficult to bend over for shorter people. no safe in the room. Even at the Fairfield inn, guests sometimes have travel documents or occasional jewelry items that are best left in a safe when leaving the hotel. the bed linens were very thin and somewhat scratchy. Highs: the draperies in the room were unexpectedly pretty. the room had a fridge and a microwave. the bathroom shower was huge and had a nice showerhead. the bathroom counter was large enough for all of the lotions and toiletries. the breakfast bar was unexceptional except they had great candied pecans. the room was quiet, clean, and fairly comfortable. lots of restaurants nearby. Quirky: there were 2 televisions, set about 6 feet apart and opposite from one another. When you turned on one, the other one came on, too. When you changed the channel on one, the other one did not change which meant you had to get out of bed to turn off the one in the living space.

Great location in the edge of the historic district close to several good bars and restaurants. It’s also a short walk to the riverfront. The place is clean and well maintained. The staff appears to be friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

The location of this hotel is ideal for walking around historic Savannah. The rooms were nice, the beds fine, the breakfast had a lot of options, but was only so so. We didn’t have hot water the first morning (was lukewarm), but did the rest of the mornings. Our room was not ready when we checked in at 5:30 PM. We waited half an hour, and then I asked if there were any other rooms available and since we were Marriott titanium, they upgraded us to an executive suite which had an alcove with a couch and a desk. We did not use them, but they had a nice small workout facility and an outdoor pool. The TV did not work. We didn’t let the staff know as we didn’t try it until our last night there and it was pretty late. Even with the few issues, I would stay in this hotel again if going to visit Savannah based on its location and price point.

Rooms were clean and staff/valet was professional and very friendly. Would stay again for sure. We could walk all over the city. I would not recommend the trolley as it was always full so we had to walk anyways so we wasted the 44.00 a person charge. You can walk the city anyways. Great city.

Rooms were clean and comfy. Our experience was pretty good. Only issue was check in is supposed to be at 4 but when we arrived after 5 we still weren't able to check in bcs rooms weren't ready. Not a huge deal for us but did shorten the time we had for River St.
