The pillows are the fluffiest. The bed is like being on a cloud. The comforter and bedding made my rest that much more heavenly. Thank you Debbie for a speedy checkin we were exhausted. And the breakfast nook was filled with so many goodies…..

Thank you Elena for the great experience of hospitality in Carlsbad/CA. Technically my mobile phones got charged. The experience at the Fairfield Inn in Carlsbad is by far much more. What made the difference is your friendly welcome and your great support. Many Thanks!

The General Manager of this location is a thief. I was told by the front desk I could check out early and was emailed a bill with 2 nights charges saying I had checked out. The next day I was sent a new bill with 3 nights charged. Called the hotel and a staff member said they could see the note saying I was told I could check out early and she'd have the GM call me. The next day the GM called me back and basically said he didn't care what the staff had told me, and he didn't care that I had a bill in my email with 2 nights saying I had checked out he was going to charge me anyway. He was super rude and I consider what he did theft. Apparently, Marriott has no oversight over GMs at the hotel and they can do whatever they want with no repercussions (I was told they don't have a boss which seems insane). So I'd say be careful staying at this location since the GM has no scruples and will override what the staff tells you to benefit his own ego. Your credit card is not safe here. I've stayed at this hotel many times in the last few years and at this point I have no trust. The rest of the staff was nice. I actually had a flood in my bathroom from the shower that I was really nice about since they were sold out and couldn't move me (I didn't ask for a refund or demand I move), yet I was not given the same grace when it came to charging my credit card fraudulently. I'm so disappointed in my experience and this hotel lost a long time customer and Bonvoy member over like $280 dollars. My advice - DO NOT STAY HERE!

Yes, this is a newer property and, as a result, it benefits from better/newer design (and I don’t mean to downplay that, these newer Fairfield properties are WAY better), but even beyond that, this hotel gets high marks in virtually every category. First, the staff was well trained, friendly, fast, helpful, engaged, everything you’d want them to be when you’re a weary traveler checking in (as we were that night). Second, the property was clean, as in immaculate clean. Third, technology. The wifi was fast, the TV system was easy to understand, use, and included streaming options. Fourth, the breakfast was definitely better than the average Fairfield. Clearly the cooking staff actually *cared* about making and serving good food, and they had options that you don’t always find at a Fairfield (e.g. turkey sausage, and salsa with your eggs). Any negatives? Well, if I get REALLY “nitpicky”, there were a few *very* minor issues. For example, the caulking along the base of the shower in our room was already showing some wear (no visible mold yet, but clearly the installers rushed the job (there was some minor leaking on the bathroom floor by the shower door, and there probably will be a problem eventually). That said, even this issue includes a hat tip to Fairfield (as a brand) for FINALLY abandoning tubs in these rooms (which NO ONE uses and are frankly dangerus) AND for improving the shower floors (the previous version of this shower used in both Marriott and Hilton brands had a floor that was too slippery. These are clearly the same manufacturer, but “version 2.0” in that the non-skid on the shower floor is vastly improved while still comfortable). Any other negatives? Well, the hotel’s pool is far too small for working out and has a “deep” end that is 3.5 feet deep, so it's great for families with small kids, but completely useless for everyone else. Finally, there’s already some minor wear on the chairs in the dining room (but that’s not the hotel’s fault, that’s a QC issue in the selection of the chair manufacturer … but seriously, these are all REALLY minor issues. The "bottom line" here is that I would *cheerfully* choose to stay in this hotel again (and FWIW, I’m much more of a “Westin” level biz traveler than I am a “Fairfield” one). This hotel is a shining example of what the Fairfield brand should aspire to everywhere, and one of the best Fairfield’s I have *ever* stayed at. Well done!

Kareem was very welcoming and so was the other guy at the front desk. The beds were comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay here. This is very close to LEGOLAND. 😊 Thank you Kareem also loved the fresh fruit for breakfast all the staff was great!
