Justin was an exceptional server; aware of what I needed, but also allowed me to enjoy the meal without interruption. He is a true gem! He also suggested options for me. He asked me how hungry I was to suggest the perfect meal! He was right! The sandwich was just what I needed!

"Hoped for better. Don't be fooled by the facade."

I truly wanted to *love* this hotel as after staying in the Boulder Embassy Suites it appeared the brand was turning a corner back to it’s old glory. Unfortunately, the experience here harkens back to what I believe *discounted* the Embassy brand. That written, I’ll start with the good. The location, be it for Ball Arena, the Convention Center (right across the street), or just exploring downtown is fantastic and easily walkable. Add that to a reasonable price point (yes, valet is $58 a night, but it is downtown Denver) and it’s an OK hotel. But OK is about as good as it gets. This hotel was booked under Diamond status and though that *should* come with a complimentary upgrade, the best room, corner mountain view suite, was booked as this was to celebrate a birthday and nothing wanted to be left to *should*. There was even a special call made to the manager to see if something special could be done to recognize the day and they were kind enough to say a surprise would be waiting in the room upon check-in. Upon check-in we were assigned the 7th floor—despite myriad requests for a high floor—and were informed, at check-in, that something would be sent to the room for the occasion (which it was). So much for a surprise. What was a surprise was the room itself. The corner mountain view suite, the best room you can book, comes with one small window facing the atrium—in reality just a wall outside the window—and one that faces the mountain—in reality a small window that leaks condensation when it’s cold outside and faces the large high-rise apartments across the street. Granted if you stood in just the right corner of the bedroom you could spot the mountain peaks, but calling this a mountain view room is a stretch. The room was dated and in various forms of disrepair—especially the bathroom, where the shower head was barely hanging on the wall, the toilet seat was missing the covers that hold it on and was also barely hanging on plus if you looked down you were greeted with rusted loose fittings into the wall. The plus? Hot water was quick and HOT. Yes, that’s all I have for positives about the room. I’d also note that if you do select this room type you will find yourself with the restaurant area just down the bare wall that your atrium window faces, so you will experience that noise in the morning as well. Breakfast. This was our reason.for switching to this hotel (we were originally booked at the Garden Inn near Union Station—a reservation in hindsight we should have kept) but were swayed by the free breakfast and fabulous breakfast reviews here. Don’t fall for it. Breakfast was poorly managed and not designed to accommodate the number of guests this hotel can hold. Were the omelets good? Yes. Was the 20 minute wait standing in line with your old school lunch tray to get it worth it? No. Especially since if you elected this line you would then need to stand in another 20 minute line to get any side additions such as potatoes, bacon, or sausage. Everything written here was communicated to the front desk and all that was received was apologies. While not to discount a fine apology, the lack of any real benefit for Diamond—such as a high floor since the top room choice was already selected, the poor quality of the rooms, the mind-numbing wait for breakfast would move this hotel to the bottom of my list of downtown Hiltons. While not expecting the Art Hotel (the best Hilton has to offer downtown) I was expecting more than a Hampton Inn with a nice facade and open atrium. Very disappointing.

"Great breakfast with Chef Alex"
TripAdvisor user rating 5.0 out of 5

Chef Alex makes a bomb omelet! He provided great customer interaction during the morning buffet. Despite high occupancy, he kept the fresh eggs action station moving efficiently and with friendly service. His friendliness and attention to serving the guests made the stay especially enjoyable compared to lackluster continental breakfast at most chain hotels.
