"Stay away from here do not stay here"

Do not stay here! They have your credit card and they will charge you for things you didn’t ask for and then not give you credit back. When we checked in, we were told we got free breakfast, but after we fixed our plates and sat down, we were presented with bills for $30 each. Sam, who we thought was a manager told us that since we were told that it was free and since no one was at the hostess desk to tell us differently that we would not be charged. However, the assistant general manager, Valeria Fuenmayor change that and said yes, we would be charged and since they had our credit card, we had no recourse, but to leave with the charges on our bill. In addition, we were billed for a drink. We had gotten at the bar and paid for with a credit card and it was charged to the room. The whole time we were trying to explain the situation to Martha behind the desk. She stood there with a smirk on her face, like she was enjoying being in charge of our credit card and telling us there was nothing she could do. Do not stay here not only are they dishonest. They are liars. Choose another hotel or stay here at your own peril.

This place is trash. It is located near the university, but it is on a very busy road that provides 24-hour noise. Service is equally bad. The breakfast hostess snuck unauthorized charges on my bill, and housekeeping couldn't even pick up all of the towels. The manager could not be bothered to call me even after leaving a business card at the front desk. The area surrounding the hotel is run down and not even good for a walk. It's trash.

"Great service in the heart of Austin"
TripAdvisor user rating 4.0 out of 5

The Doubletree in Austin was perfect for what we needed as a transit hotel. The place was spacious, rooms were clean, and we got really great service from the staff. A special shout-out goes to Michelle at the front desk. She totally went out of her way to assist us and sort through a minor technical glitch at check-in. She really was helpful when most others at a front desk, to be honest, would have just gone through the motions. It's amazing what someone going the extra mile does for a stay/experience. The only draw-back and the reason for the 4 is that it is right on I-35 which is great from a location perspective, but you do end up getting the noise from the highway as well.

"Hardworking Staff/Carpet as old as Frank Sinatra"

The hotel staff, friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately this is a hotel that needs major renovations. The lounge area and main lobby have the ambience of mid century modern. But so is the carpet. Now you think with the lounge which has a bar open between 5 to. 10 most evenings, it would be considered a focal point. But rippling and moldy smells are not mood alternatives. The rooms although comfortable, have stains on the curtains. So if u overlook that let's get to the ala catre menu. The breakfast, which is applicable two ways. A grab and go version, will set u back, 18 bucks for buffet. That's not even a consideration. You can purchase cereal, some jimmy dean biscuits in the freezer, or donuts . If you really like mud coffee that's at no cost. So bring your own breakfast or go out.. It seems like this is not indicative of most Hiltons. Not only does it need an internal face lift , the pool which is quite large, was open, but no jets were operating. The staff was unaware that the security on the pool gate to get back inside, was not operating correctly. So if seeing this one on line, click by , and hope Hilton attends to giving this their attention. Choose wisely.

"Avoid at all costs"

Do not stay at this hotel under any circumstance! Someone charged nearly $200 to my room at the hotel bar, and management was completely unhelpful. Despite the fact that the signature looked nothing like mine and security footage would have shown I did not leave my hotel room after 8:00 PM, they refused to help. I find the fact that someone was able to charge to my room as concerning as their unwillingness to make it right. I stayed here out of necessity on a work trip because my preferred hotels in Austin were not available, and I will not make that mistake again.
