Comfort Suites Mason near Kings Island in Mason, OH

For a cheap hotel ($81/night over the holidays, when it was nearly empty), this would have been adequate if the water were reliable. There was only one water temperature in our room at any time. When we first arrived, we turned on the cold and hot faucets and only very hot water came out of both, so we had to brush our teeth with hot water and drink hot water (after letting it sit to cool down). The next morning, the shower was almost too hot through two showers, but there was no way to adjust because only one temperature came out. The showers and sink water every time after were lukewarm at best. The shower faucet handle also barely worked -- we had to press in very hard and turn many times to make water come out. We should have requested a new room, but we were jetlagged and tired of hauling many heavy bags through airports, so we toughed it out. So I don't know if it was just our room or the whole hotel. I did mention it at checkout but it didn't seem like it worried them too much. Note that housekeeping is not provided unless you request it -- don't let the cleaners in the hall fool you. The bedding isn't great -- the beds have duvets but they are not in duvet covers, but rather just between two loose sheets, so we could see the old blood stains on one of the duvets. The mattresses were old and had that old, hollow mattress feeling, which wasn't disguised by the quilted mattress pad under the sheets. Breakfast was okay, if you stuck to the packaged items and waffles. The eggs (a solid mass of powdered eggs that had been sitting out for hours) looked pretty bad. But we were grateful to have access to a breakfast on Christmas morning. The hotel pool is for little kids, as it's 4 ft. deep at its deepest. Dining options are close by, with an Outback steakhouse across the parking lot and other chain restaurants nearby. Given the number of similarly priced options in the area, we are unlikely to come back or recommend this hotel to other relatives when they visit.

DO Not stay here. It is terrible. I really can’t explain all of the ways let me just say the front door didn’t work to get in. Let’s leave it at that. Got worse from there. Management was rude and when I told them there were no eggs or sausage for breakfast he yelled at me. Never again. If you go to Great Wolf Lodge stay at the Renaissance Suites next door. Stay away!!! Tv didn’t work. phone didn’t work. It goes on and on.

My family booked 2 rooms (August’24) for 3 nights. The place is run down with owners trying to save as much costs as possible. We paid over $200 per night per room, and when a toilet clogged and I went downstairs to get help - THEY HANDED ME A PLUNGER (after I couldn’t plunge the toilet, half of family got moved down the hall to another room, so we weren’t together anymore) We were placed on 3rd floor - the smell of curry is overpowering in the hallway. The hallways are dingy, rooms are outdated. The door cards would only work one time before we had to go downstairs to get them reset. Stay away and find a better place that cares about their guests

Don’t trust the website photos or the 4 rating. This hotel is dreary and outdated. Dirty carpets, slow and stuffy elevator, mildewy air in room and stained linens on beds. Not sure how they call these rooms “suites” as they are standard size rooms with a half wall at one end which separates the couch from the beds. The couch was dingy. Didn’t want to sit on it much less sleep on it. At the price I paid to stay here as part of a Kings Island package I was extremely dissatisfied. Expected much more. We were so uncomfortable we didn’t stay the second night we had booked.

IF I COULD LEAVE ZERO STARS I WOULD. The day after checking in, my husband was covered in red welts, then we discovered a BED BUG crawling on his arm. Upon further inspection of the beds, we discovered that they were infested with bed bugs. When we asked to speak to the manager, she refused to help us in any way, repeatedly trying to get us to leave and berating my husband for uttering the words “bed bugs” if anyone else was present in the PUBLIC lobby, accusing him of trying to scare guests away when he was clearly just trying to discuss the problem and receive some sort of explanation or resolution for the fact that we will now have to drive all the way home late at night with a small child, then spent an exorbitant amount of money treating our clothes, car, and house so that we don’t bring their disgusting infestation home with us. They called police to trespass him and/or have him arrested for simply trying to find some kind of solution, despite him calmly and rationally trying to have a conversation with management about the situation. We will likely be seeking legal action.
