We stayed in the Ocean View King Suite in early April. This is the best room in the house, and it seemed a real bargain at $313 (plus $32 tax). There is only one room like this at the Lodge. The room was round, and very large, with a beautiful decor, and a fancy wood ceiling. Nice big bathroom. It had about a dozen large windows with a fabulous view of the ocean. It also came with a record player, and there was a nice vinyl collection to choose from in the lobby. The staff members were very nice and helpful. This is a small place overall, with a very friendly feel to it. The major highlight is the open-air rooftop lounge. It is huge, with different levels and various types of seating configurations, and absolutely gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean. We spent a few hours up there, and were all alone. Surprisingly none of the other guests came up to check it out, which boggles the mind since it is such a great feature. It would be a perfect place for a wedding or similar gathering. Very highly recommended, especially when you compare prices to other nice beach lodging nearby. We will definitely stay again when we are in the area.

I had another fantastic experience at Cardiff Lodge last week. I went with my daughter and we stayed four nights and we had the ocean view King room. The room is so comfortable. They include all the things that you’d want including a robe. Great shower amenities a super clean room, comfortable bed and pillows. I love the record player and an abundance of albums to choose from in the reception area. They’re so accommodating and go the extra mile any questions that I had. I love the coffee in the morning and the choice of juices. A short walk to the beach only two blocks. It’s right across the street from a great little coffee shop and steps away fromterrific restaurants and great lunch and breakfast and dinner places. The customer service is five star. I highly recommend. We loved our stay. We will return in a couple months.

I absolutely love staying at Cardiff by the Sea Lodge-it has truly become my favorite place to stay. I visit San Diego almost every month to see my kids, who attend USD, and this hotel always makes my trips even more special. The rooms are beautifully decorated, with a cozy fireplace and a record player that I absolutely adore. The bed is incredibly comfortable, with the softest bedding that makes for a perfect night's sleep. One of my favorite parts of my stay is starting my morning on the rooftop, enjoying a fresh cold-pressed juice and a muffin in my plush hotel robe while taking in the breathtaking ocean views. The staff is always so friendly and accommodating, making me feel right at home. I can't wait for more future stays!

This hotel did not have the amenities I would expect at this price point. The only thing that justified this hotel cost is the location (2 blocks to the beach). No coffee in the room, just a record player, which was useless when caffeine is required in the morning. The office opens at 7:00am. Otherwise you have to get coffee outside the hotel location. The room is appointed with a bed and 2 small chairs, no desk or table. No water glasses in the room or bathroom. No microwave. The half size dorm refrigerator compressor went off every 15 minutes. WiFi does not extend to the rooftop area. No pool or hot tub. The room was clean but extremely sparse. The shower was strong and good temperature. The daily cleaning staff did a great job..
