"Not a very functional room; surprise fees"

We weren't all that enthused about this BW. The sign on the desk saying the parking will cost $10, despite it saying it's free on the website leaves a sour first impression. The website also says laundry is free (which surprised us, but we have seen it before at a couple other BW's), but there's actually a fee. The person who checked us in was not very warm, so I wasn't eager to ask them to remove the charge, but I did. They agreed to remove the parking charge, but not reimburse for laundry. The bed was comfortable, but there was not enough lighting to read in bed. The floor was also quite dirty (glad it's not carpet). In the bathroom, there was a small towel hook that looked recently installed, probably because so many people have mentioned that in reviews. The bathroom door is a sliding barn-style door, which of course leaves a gap, but the weird thing is that there's no handle to open it from the inside. You have to just reach inside the door frame to grab it with your fingers. Naturally, there are a lot of fingerprints on the door because of this. We only stayed for one night, but wouldn't opt for this hotel if we were staying longer.

Arrived early for check in and was told room ready in 15 minutes 1 hour later got a room and then had to get another room because of loud location. Best Western has a lot of nerve charging for parking on there property when a lot of patrons had to park on public lots off property. Room smelled of dog and they cannot guarantee a pet free room for people who want one but they are happy to accommodate pet owners so...what sense does that make. Breakfast choices were terrible. Through with Best Western!

Bathroom needs a lot of items repaired, replaced or poor installation corrected. No place to hang towels or hooks of any kind in bathroom or room to hang whatever. Very few electrical outlets in room. The few that are there are in useless locations without extensions cords.

Other than the location which is across the road from the beach there are no redeeming qualities to staying here. The place is word and needs some work. Both the pool and Spa are not heated, which makes for freezing water, the repeated request to housekeeping for extra bath towels are ignored. However, the worse part was finding cockroaches in our room after the first night and then again on our second to last day and YES this was reported to the front desk, which seemed to be brushed off with an "Ok" It got to the point after no follow-up that i went to Home Depot and got my own spray.

Our room was clean and bed was very comfortable. The room and bathroom look recently updated. The complimentary breakfast was very good. The only downside to our stay was the lack of towel racks or hooks in the bathroom. We had to get creative with ways to hang our wet towels.
